Best Dance Pad for DDR MAX 1 & 2 (PS2)?
Hey guys and gals, I'm sorry if this has been asked before (it probably has), but I couldn't quickly locate another similar thread about this... Anyway, my main question is the same as in the subject. What is the best Dance pad to get for the DDR MAX 1 & 2 game for the PS2? I've checked this buynshop site, and I'm considering buying two of these dancepads, as you can see here:
http://www.buynshop.com/productinfophp3/VG-DDR-DXCB2 However, I don't know if this is the best one out there... There's also this metal dance pad (as you can see here: http://buynshop.com/productinfo/44/VG-DDR-MPD/ but it's a lot more expensive. Another thing is, in other threads I've seen a lot of people say "Metal dancepads suck, get a hard plastic one or build one yourself yadda yadda". Anyway, all that got me pretty confused, and I don't know what's the best choice. Apart from that dance pad question, I also wonder about the following: 1) If I get the BNS Ultra DX-Xtreme Dance Pad, do I also still need to get a dance pad cover (like the BNS DDR Dance Pad Cover also listed on that site)? I will have to play on a carpet if that helps/hurts anything. 2) Are there any better deals out there, or is buynshop a decent site to shop at? 3) (Another thing I just noticed) Is there much difference between the dance pads listed here: http://<a href="http://www.buynshop....DDR-ULTDX/</a> and here: http://www.buynshop.com/productinfophp3/VG-DDR-DXCB2 ? Only the first one seems to note the "New Extreme Insert & new bigger pad size". Because it's Ultra Extreme instead of regular extreme? :P Hmmmmm... 4) And finally: I haven't played DDR before at all. But I saw DDR2 MAX came out just recently, and I was already planning to get DDR1. Is it worth it to get both games, or will 'just' DDR2 MAX suffice? Is there anyone who can help me out with (some of) these questions please? The more details I can get, the better, of course. Thanks in advance! |

No one knows the answer to any of the questions I asked? Any helpful response I could get would still be appreciated, I plan to order this stuff very soon, maybe even today...

Just get stepmania and a pad and a pc adapter
and for a pad get a metal one or a hard one not the ones that look like a sheet.

Anyways, don't buy the pads you linked to, because they're bootlegs and probably aren't great quality. In fact, unless you're buying a www.cobaltflux.com or making your own pads (check www.ddrfreak.com and thier message boards to find out more about this process), I would suggest just sticking with cheap, $20, DPR2 pads. They're guaranteed to break, but at least you're not paying 80 bucks more for something that'll break on you |

Ok here, just get a stupid sheet DDR mat.
I know it slips a lot, but what I do is I put a 20 pound (or more if you want to) weight on it. I only have it because I work out. I tried to put two..one on the start button, but then I realize that would keep resetting it lol. But the 20 pounds works very well as long as your not a SUPER AGGRESSIVE JUMPING CRAZY FAT ASS. Which I'm sure none of us are lol. |

There are only two names you need to know for good pads.
BNS and Red Octane |

Best pads available are Cobalt Flux, unless you wanna shell out a few thousand for a real arcade pad. BNS pads are nice but require a lot of maintainance. RO metal pads just plain suck, and the Ignitions are over-priced... |

$100 for a pad that starts missing in a few months isn't worth it, especially when you can pay $50 and get almost the same quality |

i have had the konami mats and mad catz mats. i didnt like either of them. they were so small!!!!! and my konami one stopped working after 2 and a half weeks. how gay?
the mad catz one is pretty cool looking, but it crumples up and everything while i am playing... i hate it! so dont get either of those. my friend has this really good one. i think it is by pelican. its a wireless one. and costed 40$, but is worth it! |

ahh, yes i have that pelican pad also, its fairly good, yea it is 40$, but its kinda hard to get it set up the first time, make sure you put the batteries in right, they take a little bit of work O.o
for the pad though, it has a pretty nice non-slide coat on the bottom, and the pad itself is well constructed, as far as soft pads go. it even glows in the dark!! |
