Speed Mods on O2Jam
Now I'm not going to rant, but I should.
What speed mods do you use when you play normal songs? I just hate playing Versus mode (and I have to now ) because I am level 13. Why? Everyone insists on playing x3/x4, while I just love x1... Unfortunately when not hosting the game, I have to play at this incredibly high speed. This REALLY make my eyes hurt... WHY!!!!!!!! I love x1, you should too. |

Not using speed mods on any game is just unnecessarily hurting yourself. Learn to use them.

Re: Speed Mods on O2Jam
Ok, first keep in mind most people on o2jam are dumb malaysians. With that said, o2jam is unlike most music games in that your hands and fingers are in a static position, so they never have to move. You can take advantage of this by using higher speed modifiers than you would in other games. The advantage of higher speed modifiers in o2jam is twofold:
1. (the obvious one) O2jam becomes very difficult to read as you play harder songs. Moreso than DDR, ITG, and IIDX, easily. I'm not sure what song difficulties you're playing, but at lower level songs, high speed modifiers are dumb, but try something in the 20's and you'll see 2.5x (for a song around 130bpm or so) just doesn't cut it. 2. The accuracy in o2jam actually gets a little more lax as the speed modifier goes up, based on the way they calculate your accuracy. Therefore, higher speed mods (as long as you can read them) will improve your scores. As I said before, for easy songs, higher speed modifiers are overkill, if not harmful. I even often use slower modifiers on an Easy difficulty for a song than on the song's Hard difficulty. It's not very hard to get used to higher speeds, either. I got my friend who had never played any music games ever before up to an adjusted bpm (real bpm * speed modifier) of 600-650, the speed I usually feel comfortable playing for hard songs, reasonably quickly. Hopefully that'll shed some light for you. |

Re: Speed Mods on O2Jam
Timing isn't more lax; your timing improves because you can tell exactly when to hit the note easier since a note on 6x can be farther away from the receptor than it would be on 5x to still be a cool.

Re: Speed Mods on O2Jam
Most songs are impossible to read on 1x for me. I haven't played in months now (probably won't again heh) but I stuck at 3x/4x. It makes files more fun because you can read them.
