What's so good about the spread style of play on here?
I've noticed so many people use ASKL or something along those lines in their key configurations. I've always used the number pad and never understood what was good about spread. Why do any of you use it?

did you hunt and peck when you made this thread
spread is generally "better" because it's not much of a leap from touch-typing, I think Last edited by choof; 11-24-2014 at 08:25 AM.. |

not to mention that the vast majority of files are made with a spread mindset

Re: What's so good about the spread style of play on here?
I tried spread and it felt like it was much too weird. Number pad always gave me a better feel for the beat of a song, but it seems like all good players use spread.

I don't even have a numpad
That explains why I didn't win D6 this year

Re: What's so good about the spread style of play on here?
Back a few years ago, I used to use a numpad and two keys on the keyboard (A S 5 6). As I got better, my spread setup has gotten smaller and smaller, eventually to D F J K.
I like shorter spread, like my current setup, better than further spread, because I have more control with my fingers and as you get into harder songs, you'll need that control to score well on them. (IE: bursts or rolls are easily handled in a short spread setup)

spread, like anything else, is something you have to get use to. if you never had a dick and all of a sudden you had a dick you wouldnt just dismiss the dick because you werent use to it right away. you have to play around with it and give it time eventually the dick will feel natural and you'll wonder how you ever managed without having a dick

Re: What's so good about the spread style of play on here?
til learning spread is analogous to learning what to do with the sudden growth of a penis

Re: What's so good about the spread style of play on here?
Really though, when you think about it the process of learning anything new is kind of like the process of learning what to do with an unexpected penis.
What a great analogy 10/10

Re: What's so good about the spread style of play on here?
In all seriousness though, I find spread useful because I don't wank.
because I don't wank, I don't have one super strong arm. Having both hands to distribute stress when playing hard songs makes my life easier.
