Pretty much this, I mean we can't sit by and say they didn't try to remedy the problem. They do have that fancy equation and everything, so it's not like an effort hasn't been made to kinda beat down judges who do this.

That being said we can still help the problem by getting rid of him. Just my two cents though. I'm heavily biased to the point where I skip his notes.

Huh I'm apparently the only one that supports dossar. Well I still stick by my case though... Removing him would be a mistake in my opinion...

But I'm thinking, if we take their approach, but don't change that we every file needs to be looked at 4 or so judges, I think more opinions and thoughts on a file would better in the long run than just 4 judges. Plus, it gives good practice to people who want to help out with the judging process.

I mean, I guess the only downside is that then people's thoughts wouldn't be very private since the system currently makes sure judges don't share their thoughts. But lets be honest, I'm pretty sure they share among each other regardless of this.

just to repeat what was just said, what one player finds fun is subjective, so the best thing a stepartist can do is pick a song that won't tend to bore people (generic, empty, repetitive (and this is somewhat subjective, but a song can still be objectively excessively repetitive or simple) and step it accurately, or "technically".

;edit - also avoid excessive difficulty spikes that kill playability

when that happens, the most people can have fun playing a chart.

still some people will find a very repetitive chart/song fun if they personally like the song or the chart caters to their skill level, and some people will find a chart fun even though the steps are irrelevant to the rhythms of the song (dumps) because, again, they personally like the song or the chart caters to their skill level. these are cool on stepmania because the stepartist can say "hey i dumped this song feel free to download it if you want". but on ffr people are more compelled to play every chart for the purpose of getting good ranks or doing well in a tournament.

so when trying to judge how fun something is, you can't isolate that factor and give a chart a "fun rating" alone. how fun something is is already judged in the current process; judges note and downgrade for poor song choice, objective errors, and repetition/boringness in a chart.

it bugs me when they're treated as two binaries or something, or that one gets in the way of another, or that fun is some mystical factor that arbitrarily exists when somebody uses a certain pattern or something. that doesn't happen.

Alright thanks for clarifying. And yeah I apologies I'm not making myself clear.

I don't think fun and technical are polar opposites or whatnot. I do agree they go hand in hand. It was more just a ramble suggestion that can be built off of perhaps. I'm on a phone so I can't really quote you, but I pretty much agree with everything you said haha.
