Hi there and welcome to FFR! Hope you enjoy the stay

As for how to make songs, it's a pretty complicated process. First you're going to need to learn a bit of music theory if you haven't. The one that I kept coming back to was Varien's, but you should expand from there though, there are LOADS of music theory tutorials on the Internet.

Next you're going to need a DAW. Digital Audio Workstation is pretty much the place where you're going to work with your musics. There are loads, but I recommend FL Studio or Ableton as a start. You'll need to master them before carrying on in the process.

From this point on there's still a couple of few things to learn, like EQing or things like audio 101 and song structures, but really, in the end, with enough dedication, it'll be all worth it :P

Do mean songs as in the actual music or the arrows that go to the music

Stepping songs is easy to do but a bitch to master. It's all about trial and error.

My most famous simfile was 12ths in One More Lovely.
