Re: ODIPack3 submissions (it's happening!)
Arch0wl, the pack is mainly a 4k one, so only those charts would be looked at and thus edited. The rest of the charts falls to your own judgement. If they suck, they will remain so. So don't fuck it up.

Re: ODIPack3 submissions (it's happening!)
arch, no, they don't matter in respect to acceptance. i just care about the 4k charts for this pack, it can include any other charts you want.
onto this post... the main issue with your file is that it only relies on mines to be challenging and never has anything that special happening in it, i have rejected many files for this reason. i gave it purple but if i would've reviewed it today i would have given it red because of the standard of the files in the pack now, in the beginning i couldn't be 100% sure i would receive so many great submissions. the notes i give in my reviews are of course open for discussion, i have talked to many about them and in the end we reach an agreement and the file gets included. when it's not about errors but about taking a different approach, i usually just accept that the way the author wants it. now this file won't make it anyway, but here's my response to your notes Quote:
Quote:
what you do with the 8ths is that when the melody doesn't hit you have arrows to the hi-hat that is playing on all 8ths, and then when the melody hits you just have a freeze to the melody. you could say that this is your stepping style, but when the melody hits at the same time as the bassdrum on the 4ths you do have jumps so in that case it's very inconsistent. it's would also imo be a bad choice for how to do this section because it's easy and doesn't need arrows inconsistently taken out how you can tell me to get new headphones with those comments regarding this section is just funny Quote:
since you didn't quote measure 33-53 i assume you fixed that Quote:
haha yeeeaah.... look at my explanation above obviously.

The points of the 24ths were that ofc bursts are a lot easier that 16ths but well i won't dwell on that. no it's not just the mines, there are a few other notes that are missed/not placed on the correct note duration. <----- I still don't agree with that but oh well. The notes that weren't placed weren't put on purpose M33-53 wasn't stepped by me, as you know this is a collab file. In fact I wasn't the one who toned down the 32nds, but well I agreed with it so that's why I spoke about it (example the last 32nd of the last burst in that section) But oh well I think I'm not commenting anymore anyways, I'm not going to change anything, this is a collab file and probably pat isn't going to try to change anything either. I think we have different views of what a fun file is, and don't get me wrong i like challenging files but I enjoy easy files too. The pack will be probably fun either way. I only think that being the sole judge you're too fixed (IMO) in what is fun for you and what other ppl think it might be fun too.

Re: ODIPack3 submissions (it's happening!)
Double post for general question. Has anyone made a NO-cmod for Buzzards by Orange Dust? if anyone wants to give that a shot with me or make a vs. chart I'd be glad to send them my file once I'm done

EDIT: If you are going to argue that people won't play the easier difficulty when the harder one exists, well, that's just the way it is when it comes to people's taste in files.

Re: ODIPack3 submissions (it's happening!)
if your file has not been reviewed, please resend it and let me know!!
asdfmovie6 (revision) accepted, it's a really fun file. i have some minor suggestions, sent you a mail, but the file will be included no matter what you choose to do. brave warrior it's a bit too simple and repetetive, the minijacks parts are awesome and is obviously what really defines the file, but the beginning and when it repeats again is just pretty boring and uneventful, seemed fairly accurately stepped (except for randomly dropping layers when imo you would not need to at times) but it just got too long and uneventful. also i don't think the minijacks-patterns should've been copy-pasted. if the file is gonna make it you have to figure out a way to make the non-minijack-parts more diverse and interesting while still doing proper layering. bright sound (dry lagoon) (revision) meh i can't accept this it's just too easy . i like it cuz the pack doesn't have much of swing like this, but something else just needed to happen, it's soo easy all the way through and the standard for the pack is so high now, there are quite a few fairly easy files already, but this would become the easiest of them all. it would just have needed to have one more a bit more unique and memorable part and i would still have accepted it thought. not completly impossible that i could accept this after revision but it's not likely, would have to become harder without being an over-layered dump. destination relapse (revision) edit was empty for me this review is just based on playing heavy. i think it's too simple and easy, and only relies on mines to make you mess up the score. it's just simple 16ths rhythms without a single part that really presents you with anything different. there are already a few files with mostly easy 16ths in the pack, this file is not really on par and i can't have that many files like that either. die winnipeg hooly shit lol hard. it's really fun, challenging in a fun way. but it's pretty long and towards the end it just gets soooo much jumpstream, i feel like it's just slightly too much. i think you should remake 1 or 2 of the jumpstream sections to be different, and restructure some of the other streams you're keeping too (layer some of them diffferently) forgive me didn't find it very much fun at all. mines+random pattern streams after a boring beginning :P dishevel (revision) accepted. so awesome file. there's a lot of idm:ish music in the pack now but the files are soo good in the name of god it's really awesome, very similar to how i would've made, i thought about stepping this a few times. but the first long guitar tapping solo is completly wrong o_O, it's a lot more notes. lawn wake II (revision) the harder chart is really awesome now but the easier one needs to be a bit easier with few hands and just some parts toned down in general, also please rearrange it yourself so that the harder chart is oni and easier heavy! will be accepted laste testamente of twelfth mother it's pretty awesome. soo much fun, nice consistently challenging, greeat file for scoring. had a few very different and cool sections, didn't get repetetive. accepted supermario it completly lacks flow. it's just all those hands and jumps all the time and it never gives you any flow when playing it, it's not that hard either and at the same time not challenging in a fun way with just all the hands and jumps. it also has a few bursts that are cool but they are so much harder than everything else, it makes it inconsistently difficult too. didn't like this one very much, expected a really hard file with lots of different crazy sections waltz no 17 in g minor (revision) accepted wooly mammoth stomp it's a fun file but it's very similar throughout, i think you should try to make something a bit different and i can see myself accepting this. (i wanna give you) devotion really fucking cool file it seemed pretty much perfectly made, except for there were quite a few mines that i didn't think was creating any cool tricks and just were there to mess up your score and the replay-value. i think you should take out many of them and make many of those you keep single mines. also added baqs insect digestion melancholy that we revised to the accepted list someone make a challenging swing file please! the pack needs one

nah, no worries. a little bummed that Bright Sound's not hard enough, but that goes with ODI territory I suppose. I still have one more submission for this that will hopefully turn out well. how many files are we at now, though? like 40+? |
