Re: i got an infraction
Bans are on the points you end up getting. Right now you've only had warnings and don't have any points on your account. The () is where you see actual points you have.

Re: i got an infraction
after you're banned, do your points go back to zero, or is this a running tally? i'll be perma'd before i know it if that's the case.

Re: i got an infraction
It's dependent on the point total you receive. Smaller point infractions have short expiry dates, whereas large ones (15+ point infractions) received will not have an expiration date at all.

Re: i got an infraction
Points stay for a period of time as AJ mentioned, they aren't cleared by bans as far as I know.

Re: i got an infraction
Let's cut to the chase
Would someone who has a clear understanding make an announcement over this and just save everyone else the trouble of asking? On top of that my two cents: This system has more room for abuse than the other. Also some flaws: 1. You can't see the ban reason in detail (with the post(s) ect linked to you) until you're unbanned which is honestly just pretty dumb. 2. If 1 is not fixed for the love of hell please give a clearer reasoning than "being rude to another user" because that's just as vague as the rules are. Would it kill you guys to be precise? 3. ALSO if 1 is not fixed, have the person who bans sign the god damn thing so we don't have to go hunting around for the information so we can approach them and discuss it fairly with them via skype ect. let's face it, there are still going to be hilariously bad bans. 4. Get some better reasoning would you? I recently got a ban slap to the face for mostly making jokes out of FFR titles, something that was never once ban worthy in the old system. (TO be precise I have almost always refereed to Perfect Cherry Storm as Perfect Shit Storm. I called Jack the Ripper Jack the Shitter once and got banned for it. Pretty borderline retarded if you asked me. But maybe that's not the complete reasoning.) 5. If someone instigates it, ban them to. I honestly am one of those repeat offenders but even I get egged on with phrases such as "mad cause bad" and those people should be banned as well. Stop playing slight favorites (not saying it's tremendously bad and my situation is not slightly my own fault, but don't even attempt to argue that there's no favor-ism. because there clearly is.) Hopefully that's at least nice enough to hammer some issues out. |

Re: i got an infraction
I actually have to agree with middie on this one. Of all the times I've been banned, never has there been more than a 1-liner to explain why and never has it been specific [I remember there wasn't any explanation/reason at all one of the times]. I'm sure someone's going to come back with the "you know what you did wrong" argument, and while I agree with that, it's not like mods are handing out 15 bans an hour to the point where it becomes a hassle to write out a formal explanation other than "rude and inappropriate" or whatever it may be.
Even as much as a copy paste quote from the post(s) that caused the ban would be a better alternative.

Re: i got an infraction
There should be a minimum of 25 characters when a mod describes what the user was banned for...or they can't ban the user because they are not being descriptive enough

Re: i got an infraction
First off, the purpose of the infraction system is two-fold -- it helps users in that they can be warned when they are committing to poor behavior, and it also helps staff in that there are no "arbitrary" ban lengths; a person receiving a ban for a particular reason based off of infractions will receive the same ban length as someone else receiving a ban for the same reason.
As an example, I will use krunkykai22's recent ban from the forums due to disrespect towards other users/staff, which is a 4 point infraction. He received a warning through the infractions system, which sends out a private message indicating that you have received a forum warning, with the respective punishment that will be received and the point value that punishment will hand out to you. Here's what the private message would look like to you: Quote:
Single infractions that hand out a large number of points typically give you longer bans than those that are continuously built up (for example: a 20 point infraction in one shot will give you 18 months). However, points built up over time actually have a specific amount of time you have to wait before disappearing, like a probationary period. As far as more clearly defining what "being rude to a user" is, if it incites a ton of drama or if a person finds offense to it (for example, if the post is reported by an uninvolved party), that's likely grounds for being punished. It's not always possible for a user to read another user's intent when they make a post, and something that might come across as blunt to you might come across as excessively rude to someone else. |

FFRPD in full force - when can we expect thrilling car chases through the LA highways?
Infraction system seems pretty neat though. Good job guys ##.
