But whimper wall was never supposed to give GT in the first place, and shouldn't be in the level ranks!

Vrofl and Wimper wall are both joke charts
there's not much of a difference you need to quad hold or ****** luck to pass both of them unless you're like dossar or something |

You have a point, +1 for disabling vRofl from GT as well

Re: Vertex Beta vRofl thread - post here if you qualify
I'm sorry my "unlock" is so much trouble. I'd be fine with it not counting I guess, I just assumed that my unlock would work since it Plan_Bsk got vROFL doing the samething and nothing at all was said about it. I guess that was a pretty stupid assumption.
If people are sore about Whimper Wall being used to unlock it, why isn't there a note somewhere saying we aren't allowed to use it? The recording scores "bug" has been happening for a while now. Also, if Whimper Wall isn't allowed, whoring vROFL shouldn't be either. Anyone can just quadhold vROFL, how is that any different? And then revoke everyone's support tokens that were achieved in the gamewhore contest in April, those were all unfairly gotten too. |

Re: Vertex Beta vRofl thread - post here if you qualify
I'm not easily offended, but this actually offends me. How dare you hold down 4 keys repeatedly for half a day, getting three times the maximum score per hour than previously possible and come in and try to claim vrofl as your reward, a token I spent YEARS trying to achieve. I'm appalled that whoever decided to re-add this joke of file
*didn't remember? *didn't care enough? *is a big enough troll? to not disable grand-total and credit registry on the file. This is ridiculous and I will not have my years of gts supped in a matter of days because someone has a quad-holding keyboard and too much time on their hands. GTS and credit registry needs to be disabled (or better yet, throw out the entire ****ing file for good) ASAP, would love a score rollback for all who abused this as well...

I'm sorry to anybody offended by this, I honestly thought it'd be fine since for some reason, everybody was fine with this when someone else unlocked it last week.
Anybody with the ability to change GTS, please remove the 1,003,336,440 points I got today from Whimper Wall. |

Re: Vertex Beta vRofl thread - post here if you qualify
I rolled back the last hours worth of GT from whimper wall, cleared statics relating to it, and disabled the song. GTS is not supposed to save for that song when using any engine, but it seems R^2 decided to ignore that code.
Also, I will be temp score banning everyone who knowingly exploited it. And I know who was exploiting it. Last edited by Velocity; 08-20-2012 at 01:21 AM.. |

Re: Vertex Beta vRofl thread - post here if you qualify
If you ask me:
- This whole thing is the fault of certain people for putting this song ingame (again). It's clear that there wasn't enough testing effort put into testing whether this file was appropriate for being released. If anyone is at fault here it's whoever who put that song in the game, ignoring the judging queue, without fully thinking it through - not the users. - It's not a "glitch" to play through a publicly available chart on an officially endorsed engine, then have the score record to your grandtotal. The fact that admins intended to prevent this particular song from recording scores, but didn't, doesn't mean that recording scores on it is a "glitch". It should not be a blacklistable or even bannable offense to fail to read the admins' mind. - Users should not be penalized for trying to make the best of a situation. In fact, we should expect people to make the best of any situation, as long as they don't cheat. - I 100% support rolling back grandtotal/tokens achieved from Whimper Wall. However, any further punishment can only be justified by sadism or low-level megalomania.

Re: Vertex Beta vRofl thread - post here if you qualify
I'm still confused as to why no one really cared when Plan did the exact same thing, but when Jake does it an uproar started. It isn't even like people didn't check either, immediately after Plan posted the score Jake asked this:
So the lack of response from everyone (and the fact that plan got his vROFL no problem) no doubt led him to believe that it wasn't an issue. I completely agree with qqwref, no banning should be tossed about for the whoring of *Whimper Wall* considering how seemingly okay everyone was with it until this point. It probably shouldn't have gone unnoticed for this long anyway, especially considering how until it's removal, *Whimper Wall* always had a high spot on the most played section of the FFR daily stats. Do I think that it is fair people could spam a billion points with it in a day? Obviously not, but if some people are allowed to do it without any hassle, WHY would others not do the same thing? Why play FFR for 20 straight hours to get a billion when you could do it in less than half the time, and with almost no effort? I'm glad the song has been removed, and it should have never been released at all if people didn't want things like this to occur. Moreover, when the "exploit" was first seen, people who were against it should have immediately contacted Velocity or another admin about it. This shouldn't have started an outrage yesterday, it should have been discussed the first time people who KNEW *Whimper Wall* shouldn't record score saw people getting GT with it. I personally had no idea that scoring was supposed to be disabled for *Whimper Wall* until I saw the comments in this thread (then again I wasn't here for a year, so maybe I missed some posts about it). When I played it, I chose R^2 because averages give life (unlike in the other engines) meaning it would be harder to fail. I just thought it was a trolololol file like vROFL for people to screw around with and that no one really cared. Tl;Dr: Don't blame the people who whored it because it looked like people were pretty cool with it. Also take Plan's vROFL away because it's stupid as hell he gets the token for whoring *Whimper Wall* but others who followed his strategy were attacked. /rant

Re: Vertex Beta vRofl thread - post here if you qualify
No one noticed plan because no one brought it up or checked. I didn't know or see this thread when plan posted or I would have called him out as well. I even posted that plan's should be included in the reset and revoking.
Also, this IS and exploit/glitch. I don't even know how you can say it isn't. You have to play on a certain engine to get it to work which it doesn't work on the others. That's exploiting a glitch. A loophole in the programming. EDIT: Saying that it's fair play because ONE out of the 3 public engine records doesn't even make sense. If you're going against what was originally coded/made, that's a glitch. Purposely doing it because only R^2 records is exploiting it. You're making it sound like speedrunning. "If you can do it, it's allowed."

Not only that, but as mentioned before, it isn't fairly obtainable for everyone. Some people don't have the luxury of quad-holding and are therefore exploiting a loophole to play Whimper Wall for scores because their hardware allows them to. That shouldn't be possible.
I'd revoke vRofl for anyone who did it only playing Whimper Wall. |

I don't think I'll be banning them pre say, but I do wish that if someone finds something like this in the future, they at least try to report it to me. Also, the file won't be public anymore either, I really only enabled it to test things in R^3 to see how it handled, but left it open. Just wasn't expecting R^2 to allow score saving since the older engines prevented it fine. |
