Halo 4 Piece
Just got an email from Microsoft/Xbox a few hours ago with this attached
I was never really a fan of Halo. Typical space shooter ect ect...but then I bought an Xbox and bought :Reach - That game is way too ****ing fun (If anyone wants you're more than welcome to add me on XBL and play a few rounds, send a request to Ochronosis) So, what's this mysterious picture of? Anyone else got pieces to the puzzle? :P |

Re: Halo 4 Piece
Yea, storyline wise it comes before halo 1-3. Most games are numbered by each engine update, but I guess halo doesn't do that.

Re: Halo 4 Piece
Imo Reach was trash. I have little faith in the new team to produce a good Halo game, but I'll probably still give it a go for the sake of the first three.

Re: Halo 4 Piece
I was happy with Reach, but once 343 took over the game has been getting disappointing updates, still getting Halo 4 and hoping it's done right.

Re: Halo 4 Piece
Halo is the one game I never really got into. I hate the fact that the controls were like total opposite of CoD and it was the biggest pain in the ass to play.

Re: Halo 4 Piece
Not seeing how it was "the biggest pain in the ass to play," but you're also starting from the standpoint that CoD is the benchmark and starting point, when Halo came before it and was celebrated as one of the great shooters before CoD made it's debut. The control scheme is slightly different, but that really shouldn't be a point of contention, as practically every game will have slightly different controls. The main points are the same. Jump on A, movement and aiming on the sticks, shooting and grenades on the trigger, etc. And even if it were an important factor, Halo has multiple schemes to choose from that are fairly common and easily accessible. As far as the actual combat goes, I would assume Halo is actually easier to step into. You don't spend your first few games accidentally rounding a corner and getting killed by a guy who noticed half a pixel out of place from across the map, there's actually time to react and, if you perform well enough, overcome the advantage gained by the initiative of the opposing player. I could see how that would be a problem if you're used to people dieing in 2 shots, but it's really not a HUGE adaptation, especially if you spend the game picking up power weapons that solve that problem. Not everybody can pick up a 'normal' weapon and do well with it, things take practice, which is why your standard high power guns (shotgun, sniper rifle, rocket launcher) are easily accessible in every map and abide by the prototypical "if you know how to use it, one shot = one kill" methods commonly associated with them.
All of that said, you're entitled to your own opinion, and can enjoy either or as you please. |

Re: Halo 4 Piece
There were around 5-10 different button configurations along with all the standard joystick layout controls to choose from. I'm positive you could get it pretty close to what you play with on CoD.

Re: Halo 4 Piece
I know, but, I get bored with games a lot... So subtle differences in controls really mess with me because by the time I'm used to the controls, I get bored with the game.

I dunno I seem to recall that CoD has been around MUCH longer. I still dislike it though because kids are really obnoxious on xbox.

Re: Halo 4 Piece
Reach was a good game but if Halo 2 (the greatest game ever made) deserved a 10/10 score then relatively Reach would get about a 5/10. Halo has gone downhill since it started and they tried to add a bunch of bullshit armor lock, jetpacks, bubbleshields, and regenerators and shit. Also adding bloom in Reach was the worst decision ever.

Re: Halo 4 Piece
I just disliked it. I feel like everything past 2 was a step down, honestly. 3 was passable, and once I got used to all the changes it was pretty fun, although I had still enjoyed 2 more. For Reach, the campaign didn't follow the book at all, and the story they came up with to replace it was just garbage. I would've much rather played with Master Chief's first squad as they did their work during the fall, or played through all of the Chief's backstory that they developed throughout the book. As for the multiplayer, I felt like they added and changed too much. The armor abilities are silly (in my opinion, of course), and different loadouts takes away some of the fighting over various weapon spawns, I feel. Also, unlike quite a few people, apparently, I actually enjoyed dual wielding. There were fun combinations you could use to great effect that people seemed to just ignore by and large. They also utterly destroyed some of my favorite weapons as I recall, like the plasma rifle.
Edit: Now that I think about it, they kinda followed the exact same path WoW did. Release was great, people loved it. BC/2 were absolutely amazing, definitely the best of what the game had to offer. WotLK/3 were pretty fun in their own right. They may have felt like a bit of a disappointment, but following acts like BC and 2 is just plain difficult, so kudos to them for still producing something good. Cataclysm/Reach. What the ****. They utterly trashed the series in an effort to make it more accessible or some garbage like that. Halo came out with the Xbox in about '01, CoD started in '03.
