Re: Dragons Fury: Custom Tournament #7
Here you go Scintill~
Division 1 ======= Song 1: Summer Stepartist: ichliebekase Missed a few rhythms that I would have stepped, especially in the drums at the end. Layering seemed consistent enough but the pattern choice was sort of all over the place. Not sure if you were going for flow or PR, sort of felt jumbled to me in that regard. Nothing really wrong with it, but the pattern choice was not my cup of tea. Song 2: Yellow Sunrise [standard] Stepartist: Razor Nice stuff, layering made sense, patterns were in general well chosen. Pretty clearly deliberately understepped, I'm excited to see the [Heavy] version of this ^_^ Division 2 ======= Song 1: Prelude OP.53 No.5 Stepartist: hi19hi19 Pretty clearly a file that wasn't used in the Kapustin round of my tournament. It fell right between where I wanted D1 and D2 difficulties to be for round 1. Cool file but it got horribly offsync during the conversion process. If you guys want, I can convert it for you, hate to see the file in-game like this >_< Song 2: I Will Love Again (Nightcore Mix) Stepartist: Elite Ninja Very basic, fun stuff. This kind of file reminds me of a file from 2006 or so, in a good way. No focus on technicality at all, just solid fun patterns and good energy. Division 3 ======= Song 1: Rivers of Avalon (Nightcore Mix) Stepartist: Elite Ninja Got the same vibe from this file as I Will Love Again, real oldschool style file. Some of the 16th patterns I would have chose differently (a few of them that ended in one-handed gallops) and I'm not sure why you layered the jumps in the 16ths at the end but not at the beginning, was that climax theory at work or was there a sound I missed? But this kind of file, you usually ignore technicality discussions... it was pretty fun and the song had a great energy, that's what counts in the end. Song 2: Chopin Ragtime Stepartist: hi19hi19 Already addressed this. Not my favorite of my own files, I stepped it mostly because the song is cool. +1 respect to anyone who knows which Chopin song this is a remix of (it's a pretty well-known one, but still cool if you know) Swing rhythms are fun but the difficulty is extremely spiky, and because I went so technical everywhere else in the file the trills would have felt out of place as hell if I had used different patterns. Division 4 ======= Song 1: Theme of Payon Stepartist: hi19hi19 lol the difficulty rating for this file Anyway it's a trill file, haters gonna hate. This was actually originally going to be the D1 finals for my tournament, but I decided that a proper finals chart should test more than just trilling lol Glad I switched at the last minute to Pollinosis. Song 2: Let Me Hit It (Audiostalkers Original Mix) Stepartist: hi19hi19 Song fuccen rulz (DROP IT! mmmm yeah~) Made the jack transitions super easy, it would have been a sin to not step those sounds as jacks but I really tried my hardest to keep the difficulty from getting out of control. p.s. still didn't answer why this file has an asterisk next to it in the OP lol Division 5 ======= Song 1: La Verdine Stepartist: Scintill Really, really fun. This, folks, is how you properly use awkward patterns such as runningmen. To be specific, they didn't feel awkward at all because they fit the music completely. About the only thing I would change is that right at the halfway mark there's an 8th anchor on the right arrow that has some (34) jumps in it and ends in a fast burst. I'd remove the anchor there, but honestly quite a minor complaint. Song is peppy and unique, file is fun, no complaints. Still a Scintill file fan ^_^ Song 2: Pure Ruby Stepartist: AlexDest Already reviewed this for Alex a while ago, but I see it got some changes since then. I have a lot of trouble with the rolls but they're definitely legit as far as technicality and patterns go. Not sure about the 24ths honestly, I don't quite "feel" them in the music as I'm playing but idgaf, the file is really fun and has lots of replay value mostly due to great patterns. Division 6 ======= Song 1: Solitude Sun Stepartist: Halogen- I'm usually a fan of AJ files, but this one seemed sort of rushed. Considering the rest of the file I am not a fan of the (34)(23) and (23)(12) transitions at the start of the file. The 2-handed jumps at the end, (13)(14) kind of thing, flow much better. Don't get me wrong- it feels like there's nothing wrong with this technically, but it's just really not my cup of tea. Also lmfao the difficulty rating on this file... this is a 39, but St. Scarhand is a 46? DF u so crazy Song 2: Tinkerbot Boss Stepartist: hi19hi19 Ah this file. I love the song, especially the crazy little off-tempo sections at the end. I wish I could have come up with something better for the roll section, because I'm not happy with how difficulty spiky that part is compared to the rest of the file. I tried 16th rolls but they felt totally slow, 24ths really were the correct choice I guess... idk that section bothers me personally but the file is okay I guess

I could be more specific, but in general it's just solid fun stuff, the way files used to be before people turned it into a fuccen art form (guilty as charged, btw)

Re: Dragons Fury: Custom Tournament #7
Both files should be in the 42-44 range in my opinion. I score very similarly on both.
