Default X-Men: First Class

Went to the midnight showing on my last day of finals. Worth every hour of sleep and question I may have missed.

Discuss the epic.

Full review from what I can remember. Many a spoiler follows:

The movie starts out with a young Jewish boy (Erik Lehnsherr) who displays his telekinetic powers to try and reunite himself with his parents who are being ferried to a concentration camp. A doctor (Sebastian Shaw) is interested in Erik's abilities and *unleashes* them through anger. At the same time, we meet Charles Xavier, a telepath who meets Raven the scaly, blue shapeshifter and they become friends.

The movie then jumps to 1962 where the characters are, obviously, older. Raven is annoyed by her physical mutation, Charles has become a great doctor who knows a good deal about human mutations and Erik is on a quest for vengeance against the doctor, Sebastian.

A CIA agent, (Moira MacTaggert) stumbles upon Sebastian and his group of evil mutants at a club. A red, devil-looking teleporter (Azazel?), a Telepath who can also shapeshift to diamond (Emma Frost/White Queen?) and some guy who shoots tornadoes (Riptide?). The CIA jump on this, as this is the Cold War period of time.

Hank, the scientist, who is working on a serum to get rid of his own physical deformity as well as Ravens without sacrificing the powers (leads to Beast), meets Charles, Erik, Raven and Moira allowing Charles to use a device (It looks like the EPCOT *golf* ball) that amplifies Charles's telepathic abilities. The newfound abilities are used to *recruit* more mutants to the task force. We add Banshee, Havok, Darwin (For a short while) and Angel/Tempest (I think).

And to not spoil the entire plot, some things happen. The mutants find themselves in the middle of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Sides are chosen.

The events that I don't have in detail (basically the entire *interesting/actiony* parts) help to solidify some of the abilities and disabilities of the characters as you see them in later movies.

And that is the full review, if you can call it that. Edited from Erik D. Snider's review and some character information from Wikipedia.

I honestly had mixed feelings but enjoyed the movie overall. professor x and magneto were very, very excellent characters. bravo to their actors. to those on the fence: I think it's worth seeing, but don't expect something on the level of The Dark Knight. (just my opinion of course.)

I had fun -- it was a good movie. Some things I loved and other things I was uncomfortable with, but overall I thought it was solid. The major cameo gag of the movie was hilarious. The actors who played Professor X and Magneto stole the show.

Oh hey I actually went and saw this.

Camera work/cgi = good
Story = Not great

The first half of the movie is really jumpy and somewhat difficult to follow. The rest of it was ok.

It's a movie you have to watch more than once if your brain is too small to handle so much info.

js

I found it pretty awesome, best X-Men movie so far

and yes, 2 main actors were the shiz
