Re: Piano Song
The rhythm is well made. The only complain that I got is that there almost isn't any dynamics. The right hand melody should have a little more dynamics. What I mean is that every notes should not sound the same. Make some accented notes but be subtle and coherent with that. For the left hand, whether you want it to be louder than the right hand of more "softer" is up to you. it would sound good both ways though I would prefer it to be a little bit softer in order to not notice it but get a feeling that it is here and strong. As it is though, I find the left hand to be good.
A good composing tip is: Don't make the right hand at the same volume as the left hand. Though it doesn't always apply. There are also some parts where things could have a little more clearer like 0:50. you can fix that with dynamics because on first listening, coherency seems to be lost though it is not. I see there is a lot of effort that went into the structure Good job It's nice to see there are still people caring about that. Oh and the ending sound is bit too long. Also, it may be more of a personal preference but I didn't really get what the beginning is building up to past 0:20. Might want to do some subtle "foreshadowing" (sorry english isn't my native language so I don't know the term in english lol). That's it. Good job ! Edit : Kind of make me think of the OP song in Higurashi. Which is a good thing xD Last edited by Artic_counter; 05-8-2011 at 09:40 PM.. |

Re: Piano Song
Thanks for the input. I definitely considered doing dynamics before I uploaded it but got lazy :S. I'm glad you noticed! I also think the ending has an undeserving length because the body of the song isn't that long. I may not be done with this. I just haven't composed something with a piano in awhile so I thought I'd try. Thanks again :]

Re: Piano Song
The first 42 seconds feel like they shouldn't be there at all.

Between 1:07-1:08 theres some weird notes goin' on that I don't think sound right. But other than that, I enjoyed this. Do you have a MIDI Piano? And lastly, FL Keys always has a "not real" feel to it for me, you might try some SF2's. P.S. I really like ReFormat, just sayin. |

Re: Piano Song
I found the first 40 seconds cool. You should have managed to keep that odd ambient sound when the piano came in so you could have a very particular vibes

Re: Piano Song
I just kept the beginning because it felt like the numbness in my recent dreams despite how cheesy that sounds. I usually use soundfonts/VSTs, but I reformatted my hard drive recently so I haven't bothered to reinstall/reimport all my stuff yet. Eventually I'm gonna rehaul dynamics+instrument. And ya kommi, I guess it does remind me of some FF game at that part lol

Re: Piano Song
It's funny how one menu theme later every single I-VI progression 9 chord arpeggio turns into a Final Fantasy reference.
