Re: who listens to hardcore
Hardcore can be anything you want it to be, even if it's nowhere close to another person's definition. It's all a matter of opinion.

All in all, The Devil Wears Prada is not hardcore. It is metal. Thats the big thing people **** up. Open chugs and "brees" are METAL. Sounds Punkish but like I said, "heavier" aka hardcore

Re: who listens to hardcore
This looks like more over-genreization so people who think what kind of music genre they listen to completely and solely defines who they are, can talk crap about genres that sounds the same or very similar to those genres that are apparently garbage.
Genre's aren't just names though. They're "flavors" of music. Last edited by fido123; 12-24-2010 at 02:50 PM.. |

Re: who listens to hardcore
Yeah, I'm into hardcore techno, never really been into metal except for a little.
Hardstyle too, but that goes with hardcore techno. I however prefer cornandbeans and Dimrain type stuff, symphonic as the game labels it.

Re: who listens to hardcore
Why is it? I think there's such a thing as over-genreization if that's even a word, but what you're saying sounds as silly to me as it's not pointless to have different flavors of ice-cream, just naming them is pointless. A genre is just a way to describe a type of music, such as Punk, Metal, Techno, Trance, Dubstep, just like how there's different flavors of ice-cream like Chocolate and Vanilla.

You say having many different flavors of ice-cream is good, but naming them is pointless. So you kind of got yourself there with a double negative. Ice-Cream is in one genre, ice-cream. Chocolate, strawberry, mint chocolate chip, are genres of ice-cream. You can have Chocolate, Mint-Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Tafe, etc. It helps let you know what your getting. Same with music. Sub-genres exist because new music is being created and it needs a label. Many things branch off of big things, hence the "sub" thing. Sub Genres rule and help make peoples lifes easier. If my friend tells me about a new band I want to know what genre of music they are. And your comment about people listening to a "sub-genre" and thinking that "sub-genre" defines them made no sense. Can you explain it a bit more

Re: who listens to hardcore
Sorry I'm pretty sick so sorry if I'm not making much sense. I meant to say that Who Cares thinks naming them is pointless but having them isn't and I was just trying to say how ridiculous that is, if I do in fact understand what he's trying to say.
With regards to sub-genres, I think there is a line you can cross with just having way to many of them, and I see this way to much in Metal to the point where it's just the person screaming a little differently. My friend who's a huge fan of Dubstep will try to divide it up over and over into hundreds of god damn genres when in the end, it's almost as if a song differs from another song it's a whole god damn new genre. Songs are allowed to be different and in the same genre, music would be so incredibly boring and dumb to me if it weren't like that. Finally what I mean about genre's in general defining people, the fact that in your OP you said that scene kids can **** off amongst other things, and just from looking at your profile, it would appear you're trying to go for the HARDCOAR look and anybody who associates with sub-genre's of metal you don't like must be somebody you have to hate. |
