Re: Disgaea: HoD hints needed
Hi, if you don't want to fly through the story with your leveled characters then just make a new character or two and take them through the story. I mean if we're talking about challenge here then you can do whatever you want. You don't have to use your leveled characters to beat the main story. Hell go ahead and make 10 mothmen and take them through the story, there you go no easy wins.

Meh, then there is temptation to use your better characters when it gets irritating, not to mention that would make it more like an annoyance, than an enjoyable experience.
I dunno, I just think that none of that compares to starting a new game (particularly one you haven't played before) from scratch, and leveling your characters. |

Re: Disgaea: HoD hints needed
Gah, you're missing the point, aren't you?
I enjoy the challenge of having a brand new Disgaea (or other NIS) game. However, once you know you can choose to just rape the main story with your main characters, the charm of the challenge disappears somewhat. To use a weird analogy, it is like slowly working your way through various foodstuff to get to the dessert. You can immensely enjoy the meal in itself, and look forward to the dessert as a sort of reward. Once you have full access to the dessert, sure, you can go back and eat the meal again, but you've already done it, and now have reached your reward....Going back seems somewhat half hearted, knowing you can get the dessert anytime you want now. Not great (and a bit weird, like I said), but sorta works doesn't it? I'm not advocating the restart of the entire game, exactly, but it seems like it would be a way more fun way of enjoying the main story, as opposed to just creating a bunch of new characters for the express purpose of taking on the main story. The main story just becomes kinda 'bleh', once you reach the point that any of your regular characters could easily solo it...A reboot though, feels much more fresh. You know, I wouldn't mind starting from scratch on Disgaea 1, just to take on the main story (I'd ignore the post game stuff). Pretty much, that's what I'm talking about. Not doing everything from scratch, JUST the main story. Basically, it amounts to the same thing, only you'd be able to use main characters too. One save for your great characters and post-game fun, and another just to enjoy the main story again. In any case, I look forward to Disgaea 4 (or the next NIS game that is similar). Also lol, I don't enjoy a challenge? Dood, anyone that plays Disgaea must at least like em a bit? 50% of the point to the game is to work towards an uber character/team to take on an epic boss. I admit, I have my limits (Like I doubt I'll ever beat LoC Baal in Disgaea 3, friggen insane stats, I'm talking you better be able to do 10's of millions of damage per character, at least.), but in terms of the level of challenge we're talking about (beating the main story), you haven't a bit of ground to stand on >_> Well, whatever, thread is kind of getting off topic. I do hope you understand what I was getting at at least ~_~

I've found that the best way to level no matter what chapter you're in is go to the item world. It works in Disgaea 1 and 2.
