4-Finger Beginner (New Scores on Pg.2)
This thread isn't exactly a brag, moreso an area for me to ask a few questions and show a few scores using 4-finger (spread setup)
I have played SM for a decent amount of time, but as of yesterday, I figured it is time to move from index to 4-finger. The transition is a bit rough, to say the least, but I rather enjoy it. My keysetup: P = Left [ = Down 8(NumPad) = Up 9(NumPad) = Right Now, with 4Finger, I realize that I must get better MA/PA, but I think it's a given that my MA/PA is going to suck in the beginning, after using index for so long, right? Anyways... Here are a few questions... 1. Are the below scores okay for just starting 4-finger? 2. How can I do Left/Down & Up/Right trills better? Any tips? 3. What are some good files to practice on? 4. Any other tips, pointers, etc.? Thanks. =]

1. Are the below scores okay for just starting 4-finger? Not bad, but MA/PA needs work of course :P speed too.
2. How can I do Left/Down & Up/Right trills better? Any tips? Switch to your index fingers.

3. Depends on what your looking for. For MA, just basically work on accuracy by playing some easier song. If your looking for songs with fast stream, try Stratofortress, One More Lovely, or my Lovely Lovely Lovely.

I can't on a spread setup. It's a long way to reach over.

Mmmmmmm trilling on a spread setup is a bitch. Not much you can really do except just trill with regular fingers.

yeh, those trills are a huge pain... if the trill is fast enuff tho, u can fudge it by playing them as double jacks... otherwise you just gotta get used to it...

Origami does, Boneti does, Omegix does (I think...)...those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head.

After playing with it for a bit. I'm getting more and more comfortable with 4finger.
But I'm beginning to see that C500 is too slow now. Time to step it up to 550/575 Nonetheless... I might go back to the traditional JKL: setup for the sole fact of trilling, but besides that, 4 Finger is actually rather enjoyable. Hell, I beat Speedcore Dandy 1st try with it. (A C, but that's beside the point.) Any other tips, song ideas, etc, would be greatly appreciated.

speed it up more. i find that i can do better closer to 700 bpm on 4 finger, while i normally play my best under 600 on index. dunno why really.

I play a spread set-up.
AS (left down) JK (up right) is my set-up, and it works good. Trills are a pain indeed, but I've just managed to play with that disability and been getting good scores anyways. Just work on it.. it's good one-handed trill practice anyways.. not that it matters lol

If you're going split, I would recommend getting them as close as possible while having them register all 4. Putting them closer together just feels better for me and I feel like I have more control, and registering 4 is for harder things like Oi Punk or Max 300 IIDX where I might hit all 4. I'm on cv ./

More Scores
Played a bit more today. Making improvements on arrow reading, trills, and overall speed. Accuracy training (J6) will come when I'm comfortable enough.
Here's a few random SS's from today's session.
