I'm going to invest in some more VSTi's for FL.
One of my primary goals for my instrument library is to get an instrument that has that nice, dirty, hardcore tek saw synth. My attempts with 3xOsc's aren't going well at all, and the Platinum saw is bugging the hell out of me with reverb issues, so I figured that any experienced FL users, both current and former users, could lead me in the right direction. I'll give you a few examples.
DJ Zany - Lass Uns Tanzen remix. The synth is heard right from the start. http://youtube.com/watch?v=J77UMIfSr_Y Jumped - Loituma (remix). The synth enters about 30 seconds in. http://youtube.com/watch?v=-uR8bIvzFiY High Street Allstars - Rock That Beat (extended mix). Enters around 1:22. http://youtube.com/watch?v=MjTI-t5sWq8 Hopefully you guys know what I'm talking about. And yes, I realize that they're all hard dance songs >_>. Can you guys help me out? |

Yeah, actually. First of all you can get those synths with Reason, and you can use reason as a vsti through FL; essentially the most powerful vsti.
Otherwise I'd recommend z3ta+ (for that happy hardcore saw type synth.. It's even get some presets.) Steinbergs hypersonic 2, (I think it's called.) or Native Instruments' Massive. Hypersonic 2 is used a lot more for trance and happyhardcore. z3ta+ is a little more simplistic(though still far more complex than a 3xosc configuration) and has some wicked presets. Massive is basically the most intense synth out there that I've found. I make DnB style reeces, hoovers, and wobblebass lines all in that little thing.err massive thing. aim me at forteproduction and I can tell you more and let you know the best place to purchase these things. |

I used to use Massive alot but have had problems getting it to work with Fl8. FL8 ships with Toxic Biohazard which is nice but my favorites are ReFX's Vanguard, ReFX Nexus and Tone2's Gladiator. All are in the hundred's cost wise.... and all are definitely worth the investment. Gladiator is the newest of them and I'm still highly impressed with its ability as a synth.
Sites: www.refx.com and www.tone2.com. Coincidentally(?) they're owned by the same parent company but are based in two different countries. Gladiator is still very new so very little in way of expansions but Tone2 Firebird is a little cheaper and gives several expansions. |

There's a trick to make trance leads like the ones you've given examples of in 3xOSC, catch me on AIM and I can show you how to make a basic one if you want me to.
Otherwise, listen to Attitude. z3ta+ is an effing godsend for (sawtooth) leads and is extremely flexible once you get the hang of it (although it's pretty cpu intensive). Edit: http://youtube.com/watch?v=wIpj-ufwNIk&fmt=18 all hail Sanxion7.

To be honest sir, the reverb on the plat saw is very easily removed. It's just a setting with sytrus. If you mean post FX issues, just turn them off in the FX portion of sytrus. If you mean problems with the waveform, adjust it. Sytrus is so versatile it's amazing.
I only listened to the first link you provided, and you can easily achieve that sound with the 3osc. Layer some offtuned saws, add some dist, EQ, get cake. ^_^ |

Alright, thanks a bunch.
I'll still be looking into some VST's, though, so keep them coming. |
