I think something's wrong with me...
So I haven't been hungry in a while so I just haven't eaten anything since Monday lunch; and if you know me, you know I'm a fan of eating. Maybe it's stress at work or something. Regardless it can't be healthy; I've been forced to take a sick day today. The first sick day I've ever taken. In fact I don't think I've been sick in over 2 years before today.
What would cause a complete loss of appetite?

Well sure I've got some measure of both of those but they're hardly my biggest problems =/

Re: I think something's wrong with me...
In your downtime thread, I remember you posted about going out drinking, so at least you've consumed something. Not eating any substance between that many days is a stretch.
Do you think alcohol can cause this loss of appetite? Or perhaps you're taking medication? I guess if it's none of these, I suppose you'll have to deal with the feeling, and force yourself to eat. It's probably necessary now. |

I remember when I got sick and I didn't feel hungry for 4 days. Which got me sicker. Bleh. Lost 40 pounds in a week, I was throwing up too.

I think alcohol does cause a loss of appetite.

I'm not on any meds. And I don't think the caloric content of jim beam and diet coke is all that impressive. And I've definitely been alcoholic before and it didn't make me less hungry.

Re: I think something's wrong with me...
I've gone through some phases in which I have eaten little to nothing for a span of days. It is kind of alarming since we are all aware of the body's need for the caloric intake.
I don't recommend eating a 3 course meal or anything because if you're not hungry, then it'll just make you feel worse, but see if you can maybe nibble on some toast, or have something light to eat. I'd also recommend taking in more water than usual, not alcohol. |

Look on the bright side of things you'll just lose a lil' bit of weight and you might just get accepted in this harsh judging societ...

Re: I think something's wrong with me...
My lack of appetite comes from lack of physical exercise. So I do stuff such as jogging outside, or something. I'm always very hungry afterwards.
Perhaps a bit more sports could help. Not saying you don't do enough, just saying it could be helpful. Don't get me wrong. |

Re: I think something's wrong with me...
I'm eating right now.
Oh, also probably some vitamin deficiency. Stuff like lack of iron or zinc can leave you feeling tired and lethargic. |

Re: I think something's wrong with me...
Yea I was thinking it could be vitamins. I've definitely been randomly exhausted all the time recently. I started taking those ridiculous 1000mg vitamin C pills. Hopefully that helps.
PS that's 1,667% of the daily recommended value, haha.

You should probably force yourself to eat something small, or at least drink some juice. 4 days is a really long time...

Re: I think something's wrong with me...
It could be a problem with your thyroid gland, a number of psychosocial issues, sleep disturbance/apnea, or you could be constipated. Go to a doctor, have them run blood tests (CBC, CMP, TSH) and see if you can't go from there. If you're constipated, try a stool softener like Colace or Citrucel and increase the fiber in your diet. Exercising tends to help with constipation as well, and it also releases endorphines that can help battle depression.
Just, FYI.

'Stool softener' just made me flat out laugh.
I think Mal has been constipated before. |
