Re: [TeRa]'s Split Tournament
I said for example for a reason.
The lower division may have a challenging song toward the end depending on how the players skill is by then. And the higher division may even have to pull out a FGO ;o |

Re: [TeRa]'s Split Tournament
Just had a thought today about a way to do Split mod better. there's basically 2 problems with Split. 1: It's split. hurrhurrhuuurrr...
but 2: A lot of us are used to playing Up Scroll (I'm assuming the majority plays upscroll, don't judge me D: ). So I was thinking maybe using the 'Mirror mode' trick might help people get better scores and whatnot. Flip the screen display upside down and map the keys according to how they would be played. I'm gonna try it out and see if it helps any. EDIT: or not, since I can't remember how to do it. hurrhurrhurr... :C Last edited by AniMeowzerz; 04-16-2008 at 07:56 PM.. |

Re: [TeRa]'s Split Tournament
Yeah, but it'd only work if you don't lag like hell (Which I currently do flipping my screen :C
but I just had a LOL moment. Let's see if ACTUALLY flipping my screen will work. xDD |

Re: [TeRa]'s Split Tournament
IMO, mirroring should not be allowed. The big thing that makes this tournament cool is that everybody is starting fresh with a new style of play. It's supposed to be a new challenge to all of us, not an attempt to make it as similar as possible to how we normally play. I know there are those down scrollers, but I can safely say that the majority of the people in this tournament normally play with up scroll, and therefore the majority should be presented with a new challenge. If there are any down scrollers here, they just get a lucky break. And take emerald000 for example. He's joining because, like he said, this is his only chance at beating some of us he normally couldn't beat. You make things similar to up scroll, and there goes the fun for him.
Basically...Let's try to keep this as fair as we can for everyone, guys. Making those arrows scroll up would really make things too close to normal up scroll when you combine that with how we are keymapping already. Making this similar to playing our normal way is not the goal here. It's to adapt to this new style all in the same way and from the same starting point through practice, and then to put it all to the test in this tournament. |

Re: [TeRa]'s Split Tournament
Agreed with hammy, up scroll with keys setup for this to be played like normal, would make this nearly the same as playing normally on 1x, just slightly different, which defeats the purpose of this tournament. This is pretty much about everyone starting new, and having no advantages at all, other than how much practice you have put in since I announced this tournament, and your overall skill normally benefits how quickly you will pick up on this. Using mirror mode for this tournament is NOT allowed.

Re: [TeRa]'s Split Tournament
Yeah, I'm cool with that
I got too used to scrolling downwards in split mode anyways, so I wouldn't have even used my Idea. But atleast, I'm glad to have brought it to your attention so there's a new rule |

Re: [TeRa]'s Split Tournament
First time I think I am taken in example. Feels great!
Just tried Split mode for the first time, and the only thing I can say is ... weird. EDIT: Can't seem to get the two central arrows working. I tried putting in the keymap: Left: Up Down: Left Up: Down Right: Right and Left: Down Down: Left Up: Up Right: Right The two exterior arrows work, but the center one doesn't. Any help? Re: [TeRa]'s Split Tournament
Left: Down
Down: Up Up: Left Right: Right I think that should work, go ahead and try it Also make sure that you're playing on 1x, but beings that the exterior notes work I do't think that's your problem |

Re: [TeRa]'s Split Tournament
Wow. That's really weird. Now none of the notes work whatever three combinations I enter... Is it because I use ingame keymapping?

Re: [TeRa]'s Split Tournament
Are you playing on 1x speed mod?
If not, then that's why this isn't working. I'm using in-game key mapping as well, no problems with it. Last edited by [TeRa]; 04-17-2008 at 10:24 AM.. |
