Re: Free grammar lessons!
See, had you read even a few pages, you would have seen that, while you are not the first to suggest this thread is pointless, many others have found this helpful.
Considering we request all our members use proper spelling and grammar, it seems fitting that we would offer help with communication skills. Also, why do people even bother saying "No offense..."? |

Re: Free grammar lessons!
I bother saying "No Offence" because i don't mean anything against the person who wrote it, i actually appreciate that he took the time to do it, i just wanted to make a point about what he said without him taking offensively.. i'unno . .

Making this thread is like walking into McDonalds and yelling "Who else hates fat people?"

Hey, you know what you're doing? You're trolling. You're also being insanely unoriginal. Know why? BECAUSE AT LEAST A DOZEN PEOPLE HAVE COMMENTED THAT THIS THREAD IS USELESS, COMPLETELY IGNORING THE FACT THAT COUNTLESS OTHERS HAVE FOUND THIS THREAD INCREDIBLY HELPFUL.
So from now on, if this thread makes you angry for reasons sensible users cannot understand, just get the **** out. |

Thank you for all this information. I've always been horrible at grammar.

Re: Free grammar lessons!
You guys don't have Coordination & Subordination sections? Neither Run-ons and Comma Splice sections.

Re: Free grammar lessons!
Those may be issues but they're not monumentally important.
If you want to learn the ins and outs of grammar then you should get a book. This was meant as a reference guide to protect against basic errors. |

Re: Free grammar lessons!
Oh...Okay...I was just wondering about the subjects I recently mentioned because I have got a lot of learning for those. Maybe I can post some parts of the lessons and examples that I was taught.

Re: Free grammar lessons!
Spelled "offense" wrong in both posts on this page, despite responding to a post with the correct spelling in it.

Re: Free grammar lessons!
You guys are Master Grammatorians, correct?
I feel like I've asked this before, but I feel like I must ask it. I know the difference between "that/who" in the case that is a common mistake. That part is easy. And I know that "that" is for non-humans. But what happens when the object is given human-like characteristics? Not necessarily full-on anthropomorphism, but just little things like intelligence or possibly communication. Would the rule of "that" for inanimate objects be adhered to when you're talking about the desires of a plant or animal? Would this be a gray area where either word could be appropriate depending on the speaker's choice? |

Re: Free grammar lessons!
Most people don't even consider "that / who" to be a mistake in the first place, so do what you want.
