I am not trying to seem so smart too ,I think I'm the worst person in the whole world in grammar.
And I think the word "haha" at the end of my sentence, showed that I wasn't serious at all RubiedCross.

Alright. I'm glad that we understand each other. And yes, you are right, he didn't use "you're", but I am used to seeing "your" used incorrectly so much that my brain automatically changes it to "you're" the first time I read through it.

Also, I'm a very serious person, so whenever I read something, unless it is obviously meant to be humorous, I take it as a serious statement.

Well, it was nice arguing with you, killtherockk

Hey Squeek I have a few questions I am willing to ask. First of all, is it ever neccessary in a sentence to use the word "that"? Every sentence i've thought of so far with the word "that" in it, has always sounded better simply without the word. Second of all, what is a preposition? You don't have it in your lesson. Lastly, may you please correct me of all of my mistakes in this post.

1) What is that?

Oh, lookie, I used "that" in a way that could not be omitted.

Oh! I did it again!

"That" and "Which" are two words you can use to connect clauses.

2) http://www.google.com/search?q=preposition

This isn't English. All I wrote here were basics of commonly misunderstood grammatical errors I spotted while browsing the forums.

3) You ask, I do.

1) Comma to break it up. Not completely necessary, but sounds stupid without it. Some might even make it "Hey, Squeek, I have..."
2) Misspelled.
3) Capital "I".
4) Unnecessary comma
5) Redundant "better simply".
6) You use "may" to ask direct questions with "I", not favors from "you".
7) Again, redundant. We know who the subject is. No need to put it in there again.

Ask me about the English lessons, qwert, not Squeek.

Also, did you miss my sections on subjects and prepositions? I gave a link in the OP...

It's not that you don't know anything; it's that you always brush off questions about the language because that's not what you intended with this thread.

That, and you've said yourself how you don't really care about the linguistics and structure behind the language. I'm just trying to eliminate the middleman of the deference.

My apologies for a wording that could be construed as a harsh jab at you; it's not what I intended.

Hey Squeek and GuidoHunter, first of all, I'll continue to make out my posts to you Squeek because you argued funner is commonly accepted. No hard feelings GuidoHunter, it's not personal. Also, can you please continue to correct all my incorrect grammar? *Edit*

P.S. Can you please proof read my narrative assignment essay for English Squeek? I would really appriciate it.

P.S.S. It's due on Friday, so I will send you the essay on Thursday by posting it in this thread.

@Guido: my post was clearly in jest.

@Qwert: I don't do homework help over the Internet.

I also don't correct spelling and grammar just for fun. I used to do it prior to the writing of this guide three years ago, but now that it's in place, I expect people to look it up as a reference guide.

Squeek, first of all, you're not helping me with my homework, you're just reading my essay after it's finished and correcting grammatical errors. You're not helping me write my essay at all. *Edit* I guess I can't ask you to grammatically correct my posts anymore. Now I have to look them up:/. Still, it was easier while it lasted LOL. Lastly, I want to put smiley faces in my posts from now on=P.

It's nothing against you. It's merely the fact that while it would greatly benefit you, it would put me in a bad situation.

See, I have to write multiple essays every semester. While attending lectures and taking exams no less. Last semester I had over 20 separate assignments for just 5 classes--one of which was a mock trial and another a 15-page legal memorandum for the aforementioned trial.

In other words, I'm too busy for that kind of thing. I barely get the time to proofread my own essays.

Sorry.

I proofread essays for spelling, grammar and structure if people ask me nicely.

I'll generally be willing to provide an even more in-depth proofreading for flow, strength of argument, formation of a thesis etc if I like you, or you pay me. *grin*

I seriously considered putting up posters on campus advertising that service for my own financial gain, but I was worried that I'd end up inundated, since I have not a small amount of my own writing to do this semester.

It's ok, I just wanted to know if you had the time. I also didn't want you to think I was trying to cheat or something. I just don't want any grammatical errors in my essay since this is an English class.

You'd be better served to take the time to learn the grammar as opposed to asking people to check the grammar for you all the time.

I mean, I suppose somebody could volunteer to both proofread something for grammatical errors and provide an explanation of why they are errors so that you'll learn. I just don't know how helpful someone correcting your work and handing it back to you would be.

Hey devonian, first of all, can you please proof read my essay I'll post on Thursday and post the revised version? Lastly, I don't want you to change my essay in any way, it would be cheating. Can you please just only correct the grammar? I would really appriciate it(:. *Edit* it's why I asked Squeek to correct me in the first place. I want to know as much as I can about good grammar so I can look smarter(:. Please tell me why my gramatical errors are errors. I would really appriciate it.
P.S. Please note I'll post in only THIS thread and no where else in FFR, I'll note I'll post by Thursday, and finally, please revise it by this Thursday at night.

Don't post it in this thread. It's cluttered up enough with things that aren't discussions of the OP and grammar in general. Please do feel free to send it to me via forum private message, or send me the actual file through my listed MSN or AIM contact info, and I'll give it a look over for you.

No offence, but how many people do you think are actually going to read all of that? Especially the people who aren't very good with grammar cause most people don't really care much. I didn't even read it all, and I'm pretty interested in things like that.
