Smile DJ SANE Presents "Butterflies"

Hey guys! I'm back from a long break. I've been spending a lot of this time perfecting my style, trying to bring it into a new light.

I have a song that I think reflects a new-found style of production. Tell me what you think!

This is the instrumental version. Either I need someone to sing the vocals for me. Or I need to cut it down and take away the verses for an FFR Edit without vocals.
Butterflies - Long Instrumental Version (Click "hi-fi")
BPM : 145
Length : 4:03

New -> Butterflies - Length Edit (Click "hi-fi")
BPM : 148
Length : 2:00
It's much like Diamond Heart, but you can probably hear for yourself how the music has grown and become it's own. I hope you like it. I think it's pretty catchy.

Quote:
An instrumental version of Butterflies by DJ SANE. A look into the future of his refined musical style. This is the start of something new.

Note : If you are a vocalist, and would like to record the missing vocals for this song, please contact me.

It sounds pretty good, I'd almost feel like trying to step it if it weren't so long. A shorter edit of it would be nice.

Wow...

Truly amazing work. I really hope someone does vocals for this!

And an FFR edit would be awesome, too. :P

@ColbyArmstrong : Thanks a lot man. Means a lot. Although I don't know how a NG account would really help. I don't like how there's no embedded player either.

@Xandertrax : Hey man. Long time no talk. You haven't been on MSN either. That's good. You'll be the first to know when I make an FFR edit (if the vocal version is a no-go).

@Doug31 : Yep, don't worry. Although I seem to be infamous for my really long submissions to FFR (some even up to 7 minutes, Rofl), I don't want to be. I don't want another 4 minute song of mine in FFR.

@DarkbearX : Wooh. Thanks. If you know anyone, or have any ideas on where to find someone, please give me a shout. But the song's non-profit of course.

NewGrounds is a way better way to get your name out. If you go on newrounds you should no that really good songs get up to 20,000-40,000 downloads. just imagine that being your song.

Hmm. I see. That's pretty amazing actually. But that would be assuming my music is good enough to get that kind of publicity generated.

You no your music is good. I think you should put Troglodytic Epica (Remastered) on and see what happens.

@ColbyArmstrong : Hmm, maybe. I'm surprised you suggested T.E. I think you're the second person to consider that my best song. Heh.

@Coolboyrulez0 : Thanks. Haha, maybe. But C&B is so frigging prolific. I swear, he must be writing music 24/7. I pop out one song every 3-6 months. I wish I had more time. Because it's not as if writing them actually takes that long. This took me one day... Yeah, anyways. I'll see what happens.

Wow this song awesome. It's got a mystical feel to it, but it's still upbeat and melodic.
I may step this if a short edit is made.

Mystical. Inside FL Studio, that's the word I used to label one of the plugins. The plugin that makes the sounds that you're most likely referring to as such. Wow.

Lol freaky. I just noticed something. How come you don't have the R1 Music Producer title under your name?

Also, if all your work is done in FL that's pretty amazing.

I've never bothered to ask Tass for it. Heh.

Thanks. This song in particular was done using one plugin, in FL Studio 4. No external equipment, no extra hardware, all with $5 headphones on a barely supportive PC. I am officially the most welfare artist on all of Flash Flash Revolution. I hope that says something.

I should really consider investing in a better medium. Haha.

I don't like that opening keyboard at all, it could be just me.

The filters throughout the song work really well with the main melody. But, sadly, Sane, as all your music thus far, I have to complain about one thing.

Your lack of lower frequency parts leaves the track sounding very unprofessional and almost midi-like. I expected to hear a lot more bass from that bassline. That lack of low frequency causes things like the last chorus of the song to appear really, really tinny.

Your composing skills are fantastic, but the lack of the ability to balance the levels to make a track sound "full" is really, really bringing you down.

Yeah, I don't like it either. But for some reason I felt it necessary.

But really? Checking my EQ, the lower frequences are filled up to the same level as everything else, and for a larger majority of the song too. Do you think I should add some subtle overdrive to pronounce it a tad more?

At times, your levels can mean nothing. It's all how it sounds.

Try using an harsher EQ or a lower frequency bass boost to get those up.
Or, create a clone of the bassline, then transpose one of them down an octave. Be careful, though. If you're working in FL, make sure they're separate instruments, and not just separate patterns on the same instrument.

Yep. I'm rendering something now. It already sounds better, but I'm testing it on headphones. It should be fine though.

Out of curiosity... why not? Is there something I don't know?
