Re: Rap Music Bad Influence On Kids?
I dont listen to rap but from what i see and hear and really isnt the music that is making the kids act this way its more of the kids trying to be like their favorite rap artist so that they can show off to their friends and be top dog or something...well thats what i think about the situation

Re: Rap Music Bad Influence On Kids?
Kids will always find something to be a bad influence for them, I figure, if you are a good parent, your kid won't turn out to be a dumbass like me. I personally, hate rap, and think it should be annihilated not for its bad influences, but for just being genuinely uncreative and one of the few types of sounds that isn't actually music but for whatever reason is still classified as such. However, I'm just happy the disturbing boy band fad is over.

Re: Rap Music Bad Influence On Kids?
In all my years of living, I have never seen a kid "influenced" by rap to the point where he/she tried to emulate his/her favorite rap artist, ever. I don't know where you guys get this balogney from.

Re: Rap Music Bad Influence On Kids?
Have you ever met kids who dispise rap music,
and have you compared them to those whom listen to rap on a regular basis? Big difference in moral standards, buddy.

Not necessarely. Most of th etime, it's just the way to express those values that changes.

Re: Rap Music Bad Influence On Kids?
I've seen some very moral kids who dress and talk like gangsters, and some really trash, disgusting people who hate the whole rap culture. Moral standards don't coincide with the decision to enjoy rap. I think Mobb Deep's music, for example, is so horrific in its attempt to justify murder, but at the same time, the presentation is so ingenius I can't help liking their music.

Re: Rap Music Bad Influence On Kids?
Earlier in the thread I posted saying that rap didn't have an influence on kids, something to that affect and it was taken out of context - what I meant was the rap doesn't necessarily have a BAD influence on kids. That everything we encounter through the media has some kind of affect, I mean think of it like this:
Sit down and pick apart your life... Try to take away every moment that has a media influence of some kind. Take away the moments with TV, radio, technology, conversations with mention of such things, the way you acted or spoke because of something you heard on tv, clothing you bought based on something in a magazine ad even, anything of that sort. It isn't possible. There is no way. We live, breathe, eat, and speak media influence. It's how we perceive and apply those influences to our lives that have an overall affect. So, do I think rap music has a bad influence? No - that is not the goal of rap music as a whole. Does it have the POTENTIAL to be a bad influence? Yes, if you take the songs and apply them to your life in a negative way.

Re: Rap Music Bad Influence On Kids?
Why doesn't a person make a poll to see if rap is a bad influence instead of us keep posting our opinions?

Re: Rap Music Bad Influence On Kids?
Because if I put a poll people would only write "Yes" or "No" without stating why. If I don't put a poll people will actually post their full opinion about the subject.

Re: Rap Music Bad Influence On Kids?
No, just put in the choices like this:
1. Is rap music a bad influence to kids? 2. Rap music is not a bad influence to kids. |

Re: Rap Music Bad Influence On Kids?
Because people's unsupported opinions, with no evidence and nothing to back up their perspective are functionally worthless.
People voting "Yes" or "No" doesn't make it so. |

Nobody hates you. But your past several posts have been of the "I agree" variety that contribute nothing, and have nothing to do with the posting rules of Critical Thinking.
