Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Would anyone even bother trying? Seems way too random to bother.

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
I don't think rhythm games qualify for most definitions of "speedrun."

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
So I was on twitch the other day and I stumbled across something peculiar: A "1200-star" run of SM64. From what I can gather, the guy planned to sit through 10 straight 120-star runs with no saves, not even skipping the 5-minute credits each time.
Talk about poopsocking. X_X |

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
I've been trying to learn super metroid...it's not great with a keyboard on an emulator in terms of controls and such but it's still fun. My any% time is 1:16 (0:56 game time) right now with a terrible route (i get the grapple beam cuz i can't get wrecked ship entrance to save my life lol)

I might get back into Megaman X.. I used to be pretty sick but I never had the time to actually continue getting better, now on the other hand..

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
Awesome there's a speedrunning thread here? I love this place more and more every day.
I personally speedrun Super Meat Boy, Rogue Legacy, and Megaman X2. Rogue Legacy is a bullshit game to speedrun though because everything is so random. Megaman X2 is too gimmicky (shoryu is so fucking hard), but Super Meat Boy is good fun. Been looking for another game to get into but I might wait until after I get a Wii U for that. |

Re: The Speedrunning Thread
So I've been thinking about running Ruby again, mainly because it's a lot easier than Emerald. I have something like 7 and a half hours on it, but I'm wondering what I can do better.
If I start with a Torchic, I'll need to go out of my way to get a Wingull for the water HMs. On the other hand, Groudon would make a DEVASTATING partner for him, allowing double-stab flamethrowers. He can also hold his own in the Steven fight. On the other hand, Mudkip gives me a quicker road through Roxanne and Wattson (the latter assuming mud shot hits) and offers superior bulk and versatility for the later fights (looking at you, Winona with your earthquaking altaria). In either case, Norman is the sticking point. Do I want SE Stab or better bulk and automatic water hm access? (Also, do I want to make the detour to get the ice beam TM on the SS Cactus?) |
