Re: Official Tournament 13 Batch Notes
uploaded fixes for chronomia and insane inflame. focused on cleaning up the stuff specifically mentioned in the notes. also clarified the jump usage in chronomia and re-structured the ending. made a couple of the burst transitions in insane inflame a bit easier.

Re: Official Tournament 13 Batch Notes
Just submitted fixes on all my files. I understand the changes for sexy robot may be a bit too late, so if that's the case, oh well, d6 will have a slightly easier time ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
When I get time later I might update this post with a more detailed changelog, but I basically took every note on eccentric ghost channel and Ani Mevushal. Thanks for help with the cut on the latter! On Ex Nihilo there were a couple of spots where the piano is actually playing, so didn't remove the highlighted ghosts according to the notes. But made the final third a lot easier in terms of transitions and bursts. On Naive Hopelessness there's a bunch of pr improvements across the board including the slow part. There's a single somewhere that should be a jump according to the notes, and instrument wise this is true, but that point is so so soft that I don't think it's worth putting a jump to. Took every other note.

Re: Official Tournament 13 Batch Notes
43.148: minijacks don’t properly represent the bass here all the time, there are some instances of changing if you listen carefully
I can't really find these instances so it would be helpful if you could point at least 1 out so I know what to look for, they all sound like they're repeating to me - 1:28.562: this is a repeated note for the melody, so it should likely be at least a jump since it’s defensible for direct and accented layering (it lands with a bass which could pass it as a jump but it’s also a melodic element which also seems to be jumps for this section) Does this also apply to the note on 1:28.976? And do you want them to be jumpjacks? Since you say they're repeated notes. I also fixed some stuff myself, just wanted to see if you agree before I just send these in. TC_Halogen songs that were sent to me
Cheeseburger (TC_Halogen) [9.0/10] > No issues found within simfile properties > No issues found within submission folder contents > Sync is good (No adjustments necessary). > permissions check good. -[00:10.804] Understanding that the first intro 192nd at 00:07.301 was dropped for song entry, but unsure if this 192nd was intentionally dropped for patterning or unintentionally because it shares the same sound as the 192nd on 00:09.052. -[00:26.881] expected the 8th repetition to land on something other than [R] here to distinguish PR from [R] repetition at 00:25.129. -[00:37.939] Interesting choice of flam, personally feels a little bit out of place, but ok. -[01:24.472] Very good choices of pattern variance here -Burger patty is shaped quite beautifully and has a nice wide, girth spread. Seasoned with garlic powder, and the noticable frozen butter added within the marbling brings out a rich, creamy flavor after flash frying on an open fire grill. Topped with tomatoes, onion, blue cheese, mustard, ketchup, and a single parsley for garnish. Shrinkage and fat dry took place a little bit, but the overall flavor did not suffer as a result. Vantablack (TC_Halogen) [7.5/10] > No issues found within simfile properties > No issues found within submission folder contents > Sync is good (No adjustments necessary). > permissions check good. -[01:44.651] Not the superbiest fan of this specific level of flams & bursting happen in relation to what the music is portraying, but the song overall is fairly aggressive in that respect. -[02:37.751 & 02:37.951] Missing 16ths here -[02:46.851 -> 02:49.651] Could use a fair amount of colorization cleanup here. Feels out of place with the amount of white & green happening here, especially with a huge emphasis on color theory happening in this file. -[03:07.251] These jacks here fucking slap -[03:29.442] big oof. Not a fan of minijack and the following right column jacks. Pretty evil. -I already have PTSD from reviewing this. Amazing. -I am ok with this suffering being in-game. |

Re: Official Tournament 13 Batch Notes
Conditional Queue Files
Chronomia: Noticeably improved on the structural front; better representation of instruments throughout and some misrhythms that were present were also cleaned up as well. Accepted. Circle Pit: In retrospect, looking at this again and seeing the degree of errors (not quantity, but rather amount required to change), this chart likely should have received an accepted rating from the get go. Apologies for that. In any case, chart looks a bit more polished and a fair amount of notes were addressed. Accepted. Gamma Stop Giving Me Hard Bags: Fair amount of notes addressed; chart structure looks better in the 1:55.180 to 2:13.108 section, which was honestly the main point from not putting this into accepted status in the first place. Accepted. Hornet: Looks good. The repeated U at 1:20.377 probably should have the jack separated by changing the jump, since the [R]-[u]-[L] is proper pitch relevance, but that's my only remaining grievance (I didn't note this for some reason when judging it in the first chart, where it also existed). Accepted. Insane Inflame: CQ condition satisfied by cutting song. Some minor improvements to burst patterning/transitions are apparent; chart's still aggressive but a bit more smooth to play. Overall this works nicely. Accepted. Robert Desire: Structure is a bit cleaner; jump usage clarified in some spots and relevance improved in others. Most notes addressed in a way that benefits pitch relevance/layering. Accepted. Schmollbluk: CQ condition satisfied by removal of 64th mini-wall at 2:40.125, and more notes added from 2:40.418 to 3:26.076 to mitigate the low step -> high wait time problem. Accepted. Track Title: I think that'll be good enough. There's still two pretty nasty split-handed bursts in here, but they both transition into very easily. This is gonna piss people off so much, ahahahaha. Accepted. Zygourous Distribution: CQ condition satisfied by reorienting minijack patterning. Accepted. Also addressed some notes for Gym Battle Hi-Tech that were privately provided by M0nkeyz. Good work on the changes, everyone -- and thanks for your contribution. Last edited by TC_Halogen; 07-3-2020 at 10:40 AM.. |

Re: Official Tournament 13 Batch Notes

ghost note was put there because i didn't like putting a jump at the start to encourage jumptrilling that but it is a ghost note regardless, point taken yes those staircases are there because the song is building up and doesn't have any vocals yet, it's basically a stripped down version of the opening, not sure why that's a negative thing? 1:13.484 - that's not a ghost note. the phrase is "do you wanna get" with "wanna" having 2 syllables. 1:14.151 - same here. it's "do you wanna get" with 5 syllables total. yeah it's a bit slower but people aren't playing this song at 0.5 speed. if i pushed this up by a 16th note it'd be weird to hit. 1:36 - 2:16: sure, i could've layered every vocal. but that would make the file much harder in general, i wanted to give players something to warm up on. 1:59: fading the background melody out with 1:59.485, fading back in with 1:59.985 and fully restarting by continuing at 1:20.151, and giving players a little break 2:18 to 2:37: sure this might feel like a drag to you since you're a D8 player, but for the target audience trying to AAA this to the best of their ability this is really not a drag, this wasn't supposed to be a layer-everything-in-every-time kind of file.. sometimes repetition is nice (that's my opinion though) 2:40-2:49: the jumps are there to anchor for chunks of melody, straight trills felt awkward to me, although i should've probably removed the 2:43.735 jump 2:53.901 - i was conflicted on this one but i guess i should add it in since it's still loud enough to match the previous vocal set 2:55.901 - i disagree on this one as it would've made 5 jumps in a row and the last 3 syllables are much, much louder than the first two and a whole new word. omitting 2:55.901 better represents the emphasis of the vocals 2:59.234 - sure why not, i was pretty conflicted on this one too 3:05.401: agreed, i will probably change the previous 3 jumps. all in all, i'm extremely sad that this got a 5.5 since i genuinely felt this was a generic but fun jumpstream file with an upbeat song that's not super short and tests stamina as well for mid level players. i guess this belongs in a stepmania pack instead. still thanks for your feedback

Re: Official Tournament 13 Batch Notes
Sent fixes to Snorestop.
Took all the suggestions from the notes and additionally fixed up some minor sync errors and layering inconsistencies. It's still pretty "freeform" but it should feel a bit cleaner now. Most importantly I added a tiny layering of the bass in the quiet part of the ending - just like 8 notes, nothing that changes the difficulty at all. I'd love feedback if that improved the section or not; I think it does but I'll gladly revert it if judges feel otherwise. That should be final updates for all of my files that were judged (unless some additional errors are pointed out) I hope people enjoy them!

Re: Official Tournament 13 Batch Notes
Sorry for the late post, but I noticed inconsistencies in Hornet that really bother me so I had to send in more fixes. Here is a complete changelist of the fixes.
22.826 - Added notes to the guitar tremolo like it appears in the next beat. This was also reflected when it repeats in the music near the end. 28.030 - Changed the patterning slightly so it actually plays well and makes more sense than what I had before which was weird one-handed stuff. Also fixed when it repeats at the end. 30.173 - Fixed this section so the jumps fall on the guitar on the 12th notes. For some reason it landed on the 4th and 8th notes before despite it being completely inaccurate and me noticing the proper pattern a measure earlier. Also fixed when it repeats at the end. 41.193 - Added notes to the drum hits in between the jumps like I did in 48.540 for consistency. 80.377 - Fixed the jump PR issue as per Halogen's notes. 129.458, 130.683 - Added guitar flam notes I missed when fixing the earlier ones in the song back when Halogen gave me notes on these. I uploaded the fixes already.

Re: Official Tournament 13 Batch Notes
I know I'm really late to responding, but I'm just so petty I have to respond to the last of it. I've spent an actual week on it since I read it.
Quote:
2. You think it's a no brainier, doesn't mean everyone else does. I don't think alternatives to gated files should be an automatic exemption, but had I know it was, I would have subbed a different file. 3. You claim it's an execution of common sense, but really there's nothing common sense about it. There's no precedent to reference, there's nothing said anywhere about what you personally would consider worth moving to another batch, in short there's no way to know what you would move is. It's a guess and hope system, which is totally inefficient. 4. The time he spent really doesn't matter, it just doesn't. Not in this discussion anyways. Quote:
I don't care about the time you put into it, it just doesn't matter. It's a reason to have made the mistake, but it's absolutely no reason to have gotten upset over what you say is a minor complaint. Quote:
2. If it was so minor, why is both yours, and her responses so much more blown out of proportion than mine. Mine's strongly worded, sure. But it wasn't offensive. 3. My attitude is bad, yeah. The way I talk, and type, yeah it's really blunt, really harsh, and to a lot of people it's off-putting, heck I'll even give you that I can be heavily dismissive of others. But I wear that, and own it. I'll apologize when I can agree I went too far. Don't try to act like my original post was that bad though, it wasn't. It was a simple complaint with a harsh tone, and since you want to make this personal, allow me to as well: you know me through years of interactions, and know that my original post is just simply how I talk. You two blew this up worse than I did, don't try to sell it otherwise. Don't act like I'm the super shitty person here, I'm not. I don't care if you like me as a creator, or as person. It's not relevant. If you want to make the choice to ignore all my content, go for it. I'd honestly prefer it to a high degree at this point as well. Quote:
Quote:
The only thing this has really shown me, is that honestly we need more people to work on the official, especially in the simfile judging department. The batch for it needs to open sooner, the guidelines need to be made as clear as possible. A repeat can be avoided. I could probably word my posts a little better next time. But I don't think I need to in this instance. I probably won't check back. Just the way it was left, I couldn't leave it. |
