TWG XXXIX Host Signups
Alright guys I think we've suffered enough in our lose and can move on to another game.
As far as I know wilkin is the only one who expressed any concrete ideas for hosting. Post your ideas here and if the thread likes them I'll edit them into this post and we can vote. (Have them in by thurs) If no one new volunteers then wilkin can host his madness. EDIT: Wilkin is hosting a twg classic game, if you're an old timer, give him suggestions or pick from ones already stated so far. Last edited by iggymatrixcounter; 11-28-2006 at 09:26 PM.. |

Re: TWG XXXIX Host Signups
UH OH NON-MYSTERY ROLE CRAZY BLUE GAME APPROACHING WEE OOO WEE OOO:
I have two ideas: The Clone TWG 2 Seers 2 Guardians 4 Wolves, split into two groups 2 Clones 8 Humans The clones get to pick a player Night 1, and if their target is a special role, then they adapt to become a clone of that role. If their target is a human, then they also become a human as if nothing had happened (This would be done in such a way that the picks would go by numbers, preventing instant alliances when the clones choose a specific person). The guardian/seer picks work as such: Each night, Seer A and B will send in their picks, but only one will be chosen. Whether or not only one or both seers will get the response is still undecided. The same works for the guardians: They each send in ther picks at night, but only one of the targets will be guarded. These outcomes are decided by coin flips, and in the case of one of the roles dying, their counterpart receives the full 100% power of the role. The wolves will work in two teams, with two wolves on each. While the teams are still trying to achieve the same goal, they will not know the identies of the wolves on each other's team. This makes it possible for at least one likely wolfing of a fellow wolf to occur. Other than that, the coin-flip pirnciple also applies to the wolves, and only one team will get their kill. My main problems with this so far are balance and activity. It would require 18 players with these numbers, which didn't seem to work too well last game. If I shorten it to 16, cutting it down to 6 humans, then the problem that Guido discussed about him not being able to participate as much may arise. As far as balance goes, the biggest problem would be the wolfing of the other team's wolves. Of course, this is a problem that can be taken care of by eliminating that aspect entirely, but I'm open to suggestions otherwise. If you'd like to take out that aspect and make it a 16 player game, I might suggest: 2 Seers 2 Guardians 3 Wolves 1-2 Clones 7-8 Humans The split blue powers help justify the lack of a fourth wolf, and there would be 7 or 8 Humans depending on how many Clone roles to make. The Classic TWG For this game, I would approach a number of TWG vets and ask them about their favorite TWG games of all time. They could be chosen for how fun they were, the challenges that they had, or the uniqueness of the game. From the answers, I would take one of the past games and play them now, if only to bring back the old TWG spirit and to stay away from these crazy blue role games we've been having for a little while. Off the top of my head, some of my candidates would be: Tass Hans Jurs Cypher Blah LD Afro Guido EB Kilga Mead nForcer ETC. Most of these people started with the very first game, and the others came along not too far after. I would ask each candidate what their three favorite games were, and choose the game to play based on the pattern of answers, whether by popular vote, timeframe of the games (occuring together), or the characteristics and roles described in the games. DISCUSSION

Re: TWG XXXIX Host Signups
k wilkin needs to get this game defined within a few hours and get it posted. I'd like to see player signups on thurs if wilkin sees this early enough. (Maybe the people that wilkin mentioned can speed this up too by sending wilkin your favorite twg game via PM or something)
@wilkin: are you wanting us to pick out of the best of 3 or are you going to just pick the best one yourself? |

Re: TWG XXXIX Host Signups
classic, even though I was omitted from that list, and if you're curious, my favorite game of all time was twg 18. It was hosted by eb and was the first to feature cardflipping. It went all the way down to the wire... as tps did the insane and attacked himself to get himself into the heart of an alliance, then once over again by sacrificing roopert.
my second favorite would be whichever one where I was the seer. I think maybe kilga hosted it? There was one red decoy that was framed every night (a human that would come up red when seered). I managed to seer three reds in a row (2 reals and the frame) but never could seer the last wolf (eb) because he was too publically suspected anyway. can't think of a third. |

Re: TWG XXXIX Host Signups
I'd vote for the classic game too.
But just as a clarification point with the other game, in case it ever gets used in future, can the clones become wolves, and if so, which wolf team would they work for? |

Re: TWG XXXIX Host Signups
Same here.
As if this wasn't one sided enough already, Wilkin Classic. I was thinking about running for host with my "everyone has a power which is influenced by their choice in character when signing up and wolves may end up with a powerful human role," but I won't bother since playing Wilkin's game (either one, really) sounds more fun than hosting again, especially after missing last game. For reference: My favorite game is the one I hosted with the serious lack of blues. 8)

Re: TWG XXXIX Host Signups
Classic. My favorite is XIII: Dark Matters. It was hosted by Kilga, and it's a normal TWG. 3 wolves, guardian and a seer. That's the game where stretchy was the guardian and we thought we could milk a guard onto alain and killed him night 2. Jurs was lynched day 2 and I was all on my lonesome and ended up winning. Reflecting on that, I promise not to suck this next game.

Re: TWG XXXIX Host Signups
Also, the three best games in history are (in no particular order) Dark Matters, Macho Man and Art Causes Harm to the Body (Really).
Close fourth is Roast Fanclub Chicken with Intrigue.

Re: TWG XXXIX Host Signups
WHOOPS SORRY TALIS.
Anywho, so far we're looking at the Classic game, with some of the choices being: Talisman TWG 19 - 1 seer, 1 guardian, 3 wolves, 11 humans (Cardflipping) TWG 31 - 1 seer, 1 guardian, 3 wolves, 1 vampire, 1 Judas, 1 Saulus. Roles and rules descriptions found in game. Afro TWG 26 - 1 guardian, 2 wolves, 11 humans Hans TWG 13 - 1 seer, 1 guardian, 3 wolves, 11 humans Kilga TWG 13 - 1 seer, 1 guardian, 3 wolves, 11 humans TWG 17 - 1 seer, 1 guardian, 1 psychic, 1 Voyeur, 4 wolves, 8 humans. See here for seer, voyeur, and wolf rules. TWG 25 - 1 wolf, 13 humans TWG 27 - 1 seer, 1 wolfsbane, 3 wolves, 9 humans Jurs TWG 13 (Honorable Mention) - 1 seer, 1 guardian, 3 wolves, 11 humans TWG 21 - 1 guardian, 1 psychic, 1 bookie, 1 morph, 4 wolves, 10 humans. Morph role explained here. As for picking them, we could just choose from a long list of people's choices, or after we get some more, narrow them down to some repeats, and vote off of those. In reference to the cloning game: In the 18-person setup, one of the clones becoming a wolf might not make things too unbalanced, considering it would increase the possiblity of wolfing a fellow wolf. They'd be on the team of the wolf they cloned. In the 16-person setup, assuming there'd only be one clone, then the chance of them cloning a wolf would only be around 20%, which isn't enough to worry too much. Though with the split blue powers, if it did become an issue I could limit the clones to copying blue powers only in that setup.

Re: TWG XXXIX Host Signups
Afro's and hans games are so similar, they only differ by a seer.
I liked talisman's only because I was the SK that game, but I wouldn't mind playing that one again. (So as long as I don't get sucker punched again XD) |

TOTALLY DIFFERENT. By the way, I left out the seer on purpose. Any game with both a seer and a guardian is weighted so heavily in favor of the humans. Notice: I also did it where if there was a successful guard, it wasn't posted who had been attacked to avoid 100% humanity in any instance. I hate games that are just based on "oh they were guarded so they're human" or "oh they were seerd so they're human". This game is supposed to be about deduction through social interaction. Let's try to keep it that way, ok? Anyway, all of those games look ok I guess, but Quote:

Re: TWG XXXIX Host Signups
I really liked TWG 21 and I would have liked 13 if I didn't hate alain and Hans at that time and actually lived. The setup was good, though.
