Ok, I made plans in my schedule, (other than playing SM and MS) to watch the premiere of Naruto on Toonami. Here is my review.

Pros: Well first of all, it's the same Naruto we all know and love from the Fan-subs. Nothing more or less the same story. Toonami showed the first two episodes in conjunction with One Piece's style of an hour of its own show. I was amazed to see that most of the show was left intact. Naruto's Sexy no Jutsu was left with the clouds and no bathing suits were added. Also the person who speaks for Naruto (The guy who did the little boy's voice from that Time Patrol or whatever cartoon its called on CN) managed to keep Naruto's voice intact during both episodes.

Cons: Now this is where my gripes really begin. First of all, minimal blood. Oh yes, they show blood in the anime but drops of it fling from the mouths of the characters? Of course not. I was even driven to the point of tearing up, when they didn't show blood flying from the Third's nose when Naruto performed the Sexy no Jutsu on him. So what does this mean? No copious amounts of blood for you my friend.

Onto the voices. While Naruto's, The Third's, Konahamaru, and Ebisu's voices were alright, Hyuuga Hinata and Iruka's voices irked the hell out of me. Hinata's voice sounded a little to high and whiny for my taste while Iruka's voice is just plain annoying. Why? I'll give you an example:

Iruka: "MEE-ZOO-KIII!!!" (Translation: "Mizuki!"

I kid you not. Most of the Ninja in the show stress out the Japanese pronounciations in names so much as in the words, Hokage, Mizuki, and others, that it detracted from the overall experience. Also about the words. I cringed (literally) when Iruka slaughtered the saying of "Genin." This was how he said it:

Iruka: "I've tried to get him to understand the hard path to becoming a ninja, but he's been beaming ever since he became a GUH-NEEN."

GUH-NEEN? Last time I checked, it was GAY-NEEN. I guess my teachers from Japan have been teaching us the wrong pronounciation for Hiragana or something. However I applauded when Ebisu called himself a JO-NEEN, which is the right way to say it. But the worst thing is when they pronounced Konohamaru's name like this: KO-NO-HAM-URU. The Maru part is seperate from the first part of the name so why did they say it all together in a jumble of American English? The world may never know.

My last gripes concern about the Jutsu names and Opening Themes. They say stuff like Clone Jutsu or Multi-Clone Jutsu. So no Baykugan or Sharingan for you. Also they took out my Wind ending theme.

Overall: So to conclude this, I felt that it was a good attempt that could have been made better with a little more polish. With the edits made in the show, my excitement has dulled a little, but from what I saw tonight, I can tell Naruto will be left intact for the most part. Just don't ask me about the Hand-Stabbing, or Haku spewing a waterfall of blood. It's not gonna happen.

I thought it was a much better dub then any other series I've seen. Not to say it was perfect, I miss the blood splattering, but they kept it more or less in tact.

As far as voices;

"While Naruto's, The Third's, Konahamaru, and Ebisu's voices were alright, Hyuuga Hinata and Iruka's voices irked the hell out of me."

I though Iruka had the best voice of anyone in the dub =/, and I haven't heard enough of Hinata to come to a conclusion. Naruto's was decent, and the Third's, Konohamaru and Ebisu's were all good. I think they did a good job overall but I won't say it's great until I heard orochimaru's, which will make it or break it for me, because, well, he simply needs an awesomely evil voice.

Anyway, 8/10 for me, much better then I was expecting.

I'm around that same score myself. It was pretty good, but I just thought they could have left some more of the original content in. Inner Sakura's voice kicked ass.

the dub was okay i thought since thay got the same story and not andything really bad but this always gets me cuz i watch the sub of it then i watch the dub and i absolutely hate the voices. i usually get used to them after a while though. i thought that they left more intact then i would have thought since it is aired relatively on children time. but minimal blood overall i though it was an okay dub

I guess their way of Americanizing the names is to accent all the silent vowels :<.

They brutalized the pronounciations in the US version.

So it really is Nar-Toe?

No, it's Nuh-Roo-Toe.

The stress changes from the "Nah" to the "Roo".

It's like Naru-Toe. It rolls off of your tongue when you say it.

What's the name of the guy who is teaching the Hokage's son? He's voiced by the same guy that did Lord Zetta in Nippon-Ichi's latest title, Makai Kingdom.

When Naruto did the copy and transorm thing to the Hokage's grandson's teacher
And the he suddenly flies up confused every single one of my freinds that saw it.
Because they edited out all the cool blood

Well, in defense of the edited version, you don't really need to include a nosebleed in order to illustrate the reaction to the Sexy No Jutsu (although it does enhance the humor of it). I think the "KO'ed" reaction focuses more on the facial expression, in my opinion, though I thought the editors could have added something like drooling. However, didn't the Hokage wipe his nose after getting up? If so, then it seemed out of place, as he had nothing to wipe off his nose.

By the way, in response to an earlier question, the person who teaches Konohamaru (The 3rd Hokage's grandson) is Ebisu (I think).

Who else did Dave Wittenburg voice act for? I can't seem to remember.

Honestly, Naruto's voice pissed me off (I can't stand those scratchy voices, or whatever his voice is...)it makes my head hurt, and he sounds like he needs to clear his throat or something. The voice ACTING was good (but I didn't really know what to expect to begin with); it was just Naruto's voice. If that's how it was supposed to sound, I guess that's okay.
I was wondering about the lack of blood involved with the Sexy no Jutsu technique (I hate it when they censor the little things like nosebleeds; don't you?).
Overall, I liked it, but I won't give it a numerical score, since I absolutely suck at doing that. Oh, BTW, the only reason I actually visited was because I was told to post (sorry I neglected the forums! ^_^;; Please don't be too pissed off at me...)

Lord Carbo has officially LOST this thread due to posting a link to a non-existent picture.

Next time you find a picture you like, upload it to ImageShack, dumbass.

On the topic of the actual show...well, did they REALLY need to include the opening sequence to give the impression that it's all about fighting? Half the fun is watching Sakura mess with other people, and the other half is watching Naruto screw up.

That's probably to make up for his tendency to say "dattebayo" in Japanese.

And as much as I dislike the dub too, it could be worse. Naruto is annoying, yeah, but I think he's supposed to be annoying.
