8th Official Tournament Log (D4) Posted on: January 27, 2013, at 01:52:07pm Well, it's better late than never! Going to start a log for this tournament and I'm a bit late as I've already played the first round song. Since I don't think I have much of a shot of going that far this tournament anyway I might as well get started: Round 1 - Touch Me - Score: 1-0-0-1 A reminder that I've been bumped up to D4 this year we are starting with a 55 difficulty although this catchy and fun file plays more like a 52 or 53 to me. First, I'll start off by saying I can definitely AAA this file. I've already AAA'd each section without too much trouble but have not yet been able to put a perfect run together in one play. I decided a few days ago to just leave it at 2g for now unless I get closer to the elimination line, which I doubt will happen. I'm not going to murder my fingers and sanity trying to get through all those bursts perfectly each time. As it is, I've only AAA'd about 9 or 10 songs that are higher in difficulty than 55 which leads me to believe I'll only get to round 3 or 4. I'm looking at players like Salitz (who won D3 last year), FontSize72LOL, Coveyduck (who I don't think has played yet) and Popsicle_3000 to do well and have a good shot in this division. I'll check in next round! Edit: For the heck of it I played the song a couple more times and improved slightly to 1-0-0-1. Was at a AAA til the final burst and my hands slipped off the keys. Ah well :) Round 2 - Walk on Water - Score: AAA Well that was quick. Honestly this is either the easiest 59 I have ever played or I've just skillboosted quite a bit because I nailed the AAA on my second try. I am usually good at this type of file with off-color bursts and a "random" feel. However, I am getting the feeling that this file is going to be bumped down in difficulty once the likely 40 people in my division AAA. It is honestly an easier file than "Touch Me". Still, no complaints here - on to Round 3! Round 3 - Slam the Door (Rogue Remix) - Score: AAA This is, without a doubt, the type of file I do better on than almost any other. We have fairly straightforward jacks in sets of 2 and 4 and jumpstream at a moderate clip. Oddly I have yet to AAA a song above 60 except Ascii Art Core, but I believe that I'm capable of AAAing up to 65 or so at my current level of play. I will likely AAA this one though. Got a sighread BF and the one good was at the very beginning of the song and was questionable ;) I could just stop and sit at the BF as I think it will get me to Round 4, but I'll likely go for the AAA later today or tomorrow. Also, Salitz was sent to D5. He is so good that I think he'll even give them a run for their money over there, but I'm feeling more confident about this tournament every week. I think It wil lbe tough but a Top 8 is suddenly looking juuust a bit less than impossible now. Still very tough with this competition! Edit: Got the AAA after about 10 replays. On to Round 4!! Round 4 - Quark - Score: 12-0-1-4 Uh oh. This one is tough. I agree with the 66 difficulty rating as it feels a lot like Flamingo and maybe Ambient Angels in terms of difficulty. There are weird bursts and blips all over the place. Strangely I do better at those than the easier parts of the song, like the opening. My first play was beyond godawful as I had just woken up but my second was actually really good - hence the score above. However, besting that score might be a bit difficult as above 64-65 things start to get a lot tougher for me. I'll do what I can and hang on to 14th place for now. No way that score will be good enough so I have to just keep improving and hope for the best. Edit: Well, I'm out this round, and for the second straight tournament I made it to round 4 only to lose to a strange song that I wasn't able to handle. This time, however, at least I gave it my best and mindblocking wasn't the issue. Quark was just a bit too difficult and the players above me for the most part are a higher level than I am right now. So I don't feel bad. Also, congrats to RadiantVibe, Jake Ferguson and thesunfan for correctly guessing that I would make it to round 4 in my contest. I have sent each of you 2000 credits. Edit: I'm still following the tournament, especially D4. I think badman7772 and PaperclipGames are the ones to beat in the division if I had to guess. ****** Better-Late-Than-Never Contest ****** 6,000 credits to whoever can guess what round I'll make it to in this tournament. So if I get to Round 4 and get knocked out and you guess round 4, you win! If multiple users guess correctly they split the credits. (So if 4 people guess correctly they each get 1,500 credits.) You need to guess correctly to get any credits so if nobody gets it right I'm keeping them :) You can comment below with your guess! Contest entries close at February 1st midnight server time. |

I'll go for round 5. Also, the difficulties of the songs are totally way off, or at least that's my feeling of it anyway. That 55 was more like 50, that 59 was definitely no more than 52 at most... And this 61 is probably more like 55. I mean honestly, if the jacks are supposedly make it a 61, then Fei Longer should be a 65.

I agree with you, Paperclip. Actually I had more trouble with the first round song than the last two! I would say around 57 or so for the most recent, but that's just me. Some people seem to be having a lot of trouble with it and others are making it look easy.
