The D2 Blog

These blogs seem to be popular so I suppose I will follow suit. This is my first tournament so I'm not too sure of what to expect. I was in D1 but got bumped up to D2 at the last second so I am trying to embrace the challenge.

Round 1: Swaying Sunflowers (AAA)
This song took me far too long to AAA. I have no idea what it was. The day it was released I spent 200+ times trying to get it, but to no avail. I assume I could not get past (2-0-0-0) simply because of a lack of practice with AAAs. It really seemed like the goods arose randomly as opposed to originating from obvious mental blocks like the grace notes. Anyways, I tackled it again a few days later and whipped up an AAA in two tries. I am very glad that ordeal is over. I think next time I will space out my attempts more instead of beating my head against the wall.

Round 2: Wonder World! (2-0-0-0)
Starting to pick up the intensity, if only a little. This file isn't so bad if you know what to expect in terms of sixteenths. Taking a note from last round, I feel a little more relaxed about my score and I will not try so hard to get the AAA because it will probably come. But it never did, and that's okay. I had many problems with the 16th note section in the middle and I never got over it.

Round 3: Ice valley "beyond the sea road" (3-0-0-0)
Finally got a decent score on this song after a day. AJ's offsets helped me a ton, and I'm guessing that's why I did so poorly before. I actually had a moderately successful run when I muted my computer. Right now I'm not sitting very pretty, but I am surely better off than I was before. 3 clean will be a very low cutoff for this round if it comes down to that, but I think I should be okay.

Round 4: ULTRAnumb (3-0-0-0)
I am coming to grips with the fact that I will likely not get the AAA necessary to progress to the next round. I have definitely learned my lesson; I appreciate FCs far too much and I must pay more attention to accuracy. For the next tournament, I expect to have many more AAAs under my belt so I am confident in my ability to AAA songs slightly beyond my skill level.
