Re: what the **** ffr
oh yeah thats also true, there is no legitimate reason to keep songs in the game that are ubiquitously acknowledged as bad files...new players don't care about "nostalgia files." old players hate the living hell out of "nostalgia files." why are they theeeeere >_<

Re: what the **** ffr
Well the OP is a little bit much that song is actually kind of cool. RATO is a semi ok song if you like IDM...grind 2 on the other hand...
I see we're now talking about blue files. I suck at them but I suck at a lot of stuff so to me it's just w/e. |

Re: what the **** ffr
BN file discussion has been discussed over and over in the past, and the conclusion is that they won't be removed. An alternative idea is making Legacy genre and moving them into there, but it's also unlikely to be done.

Re: what the **** ffr
saying 'it aint gona change so deal w/ it' about something that is blatantly and indefensibly wrong with the game isn't going to stop everyone from bringing it up at every possible opportunity and they have every reason to (even in the vain hopes that it will someday sink in); your "legacy" genre idea seems like a perfectly reasonable compromise (provided they do not count toward level ranks etc): the 'nostalgia' files stay in the game for the handful of people who would ever want to play them willingly, without getting in the way or inescapably crossing the paths of novice players who will hate the game if they stumble upon something of that sort

Re: what the **** ffr
Another thing that I'm going to bring up that's related to all of this (that may have been brought up previously in this thread, I apologize if I missed it) is just the overall syncing of songs. After playing extensively with properly synced files in Stepmania, a LOT of users (and no, I'm not just speaking on my own behalf; there are MANY people who share this thought) believe that FFR files, for the most part, have an incorrect offset. Almost every file seems to have a delay between the beat / note / important sound in the file and its arrow. Tass once brought up that this issue could be corrected in 3rd style with a personal offset chooser that gives the user to sync the song however they would personally like with a file. Unfortunately, 3rd style FFR isn't out and probably won't be out for years, which makes this something that I would hope the admins would try to find a short term solution for. I don't mean to blame the admins (as biased as I seem to be), but why haven't we got any answers to these questions in the past months / year(s) ? For example, couldn't a "personal offset chooser" be coded into the current FFR? If so, why hasn't it been done yet in the huge time frame that people have brought up these complaints? And if it can't be coded, why / what else could be done? It's answers like this that I seek that I'm not seeming to get from the admins. And it's embarrassing sometimes that I have to rage and make a thread like this and make myself look like an idiot to get some attention on this issue from the admins (and do not bring up "just PM them or post on their wall" because we all know that would get ignored). Again, sorry if I bitched out a bit on the first post, but I did make a similar (yet proper) thread about FFR's status many months ago, and after waiting so long, nothing seemed to happen.

Re: what the **** ffr
if we move away all the bad blue arrow files we will have literally no easy files left
step a ****load of easy files or keep dealing w/ it

Re: what the **** ffr
I'm assuming you missed somebody's post earlier that explained that the widget files were sloppy and rushed and low quality as a result?

Re: what the **** ffr
But most of the time the hardest of the files were put in.
If a file is easy it's pretty easy to step. Just have to make sure it's under 150 seconds or whatever and go.

Re: what the **** ffr
if we restructured ffr to list each song once and then allow an arbitrary number of charts to stack onto it in order of difficulty we'd be fine
there'd be more incentive to make easy files to songs since it didn't mean barring that song out of getting a hard chart

making any kind of enjoyable chart to a rock song is hard anyway, finding a random electronic song and throwing down a 300-note chart to it in 10-15 minutes = easy Quote:
there's plenty of music that no one would want to try to make hard charts out of, so that's the stuff people need to make easy charts for, nobody cares if a potential difficulty-7 song gets made into a difficulty-2 chart |
