Judge harsh, Judge constructively .

So here is my opinion.

I could see myself liking your work mhss1992, you just need to try to not make it too hectic, that's how it looked in my opinion. Also it looked a bit pixelated, I'm not sure why that is; I don't use Fractals.

Keep it up .

I want to add weight to the word subjective, everyone has a taste of their own, Ultra Fractal is like blending layers and working on layers, Apophysis is working on transforms and variables.

I don't personally rank Spenner's too high because they look like they were taken from random batch, mutated and rendered (nearly all of them), also the gamma setting is too high for the brightness (imo) and the quality settings are something that allows fast render in sacrifice of quality, both of which add the haze / pixel stuff. Don't take this too harshly as I said it's subjective.

EDIT: Since I still have these, I'll post them.

All of these are with zero editor use.

That's exactly what I mean with subjective, as the person who made that image I can say that the program basically made it for me since I had no clue how to use editor at that point, yet it looks good, but for me it has very little value in that respect. The ones I have on page one have value for me since I actually made them from scratch, even if they are still easy to make. For someone who never used Apophysis (or Ultra Fractal) the images are just images that either look or don't look good.

Of course it's subjective, as art always is.

Your fractals have a lot of white squares around the picture. It's not easy on the eyes. Spenner's fractals are smooth and keep a set of colors.
Sure, judge harsh, but make sure you know what you're talking about. White squares are Ultra Fractal's fault, not mine. And, obviously, pixelation is also not my fault. I could try changing the color gradient to reduce the white but, usually, it looks really strange without any white. Ultra fractal's default formulas are like that, perhaps, you should judge them, too.

And, like they said, my style is different. He likes flame fractals, they are probably easier to do with Apophysis, but not that easy with Ultra Fractal.

I've been having too much fun with random batches/basic symmetrical batches and just mutating them, I actually haven't made myself anything from scratch yet (I'm still looking at placement points for stuff in the editor and seeing what makes a good fractal).

So yeah, I don't deserve much credit for mine, though they do look particularly decent to the someone with no experience with fractals of any sort.

I think I'll try some from-scratch stuff right now, thanks for the reminder.

Yeah, I also tried making some original formulas and coloring algorithms. But they are still too similar to the default formulas...

@ Spenner I'd say just experiment yourself, the random batches are all over the editor and with different variations they either work or don't together (you can get black image with certain combinations no matter where you move them, or images showing very little) so the triangle "spots" won't help you in the long run, but it's that more rewarding when you get the hang of editor if you like doing fractals for the sake of doing them

@ mhss1992, I don't think you need to go too in-depth with UF yet since you're just starting, especially if the program provides similar results more readily, it does help if you learn more about it but I wouldn't say it's key issue if trying to make good pictures. What I find annoying in UF, is that pictures get easily too bloated with stuff, I'm beginner with the program aswell so that's one issue.

The white boxes / bad looking pixels and all is just composition issue, you can't always make things work your way with just the fractal program as fractals can be pretty chaotic, even more so when mixing different variations.

general tip:
Finding detailed tutorials and following them step by step gives you a lot of insight, no matter the program, imo it's the best thing to do atleast with Apo when starting out with editor/coloring/adjust options/render quality - among other things.

I downloaded apophysis. I want to know what it's capable of.

I made a new one. Please, IGNORE the pixelation, it's not my fault.

And this one:

Dumping a few. I don't really get how to use Apophysis yet, or how to touch up with Photoshop, but w.e. Maybe I'll watch a few tutorials. Sorry for page stretch, that's the size of my monitor. : (
