My First Signature :P.
I made this in gimp using a tutorial I found, this was the first time I've used GIMP other than to shrink a .GIF. So, what do you guys think? Personally, I think the colours are too bright and they should be dimmed a little or darkened, the yellow stands out a bit. I'm not sure. Feel free to give constructive criticism.. EDIT - First Avatar -

Re: My First Signature :P.
For some reason I don't think the text is the greatest choice but that just might be my personal preference. Other than that, for your first time, it looks great.
Keep experimenting with different techniques (I wouldn't know any specifics, I don't use Gimp.) and post some more stuff that you come up with.

Re: My First Signature :P.
Definitely, this took suprisingly quicker than you might think, the Brush Set I used is spectacular, I'll definitely be messing around with it quite a bit.
Also, yeah I can't really find good fonts for some reason, any ideas of where I can find some? |

Re: My First Signature :P.
Ah thanks. I knew there were good font sites but I wasn't sure from a graphical designers' point of view which was actually good, if you know what I mean.
I've seen your work makdaddy, I like it |

Re: My First Signature :P.
Ah, I will.
I haven't been sitting idle from the time I've made this thread btw, I'm in the middle of making another signature, the only thing left is the text. But it looks horrid if I put it on, it's still something I'm learning. Here's the current Sig without the text, I wanted to put "scrab" on And I'm also concerned about Link, I want to put a gaussian blur on him or smoothen out his edges but I don't know how |

I wouldn't blur him- get a selection around him and feather the edges (to about 4ish pixels).

Re: My First Signature :P.
Oooh, has a much nicer layout than 1001 fonts.
I urge anyone who can't afford Photoshop or who think it's too hard to download GIMP. It's free, it's simple, it's awesome. If you can't learn it, you're doing something wrong. Of course, you can't just expect to open it and make a masterpiece, you have to download Brushes, like the sig I just made, the background of that was made with a brush pattern and the Tech effects, like the lines and stuff were from a different brush. There are THOUSANDS of brushes, perhaps 100,000's. :] |

Re: My First Signature :P.
Yeah, dafont is a great website. Lots of good looking fonts can be found there.
Also, great job for your first sig. I'm really liking the colours. As you progress, you'll learn all about blending, lighting, depth, etc. Have fun

I'll check it out now. P.S. : Did you know that having mass amounts of fonts is one of the top causes of Windows Slowdowns? I've got enough ram to handle it though. |

Re: My First Signature :P.
Is that for programs that loads fonts or just everything in windows in general?

I think it meant slowdowns in loading, since it has to load loads of fonts. |
