The chart selection isn't changing regardless of how people did this round, but yeah I'm fairly certain that most will find it decently harder just because this round was found easier than expected.

i just noticed the difficulty of walk on water was changed to 55. Can't even count it as another VC AAA now :[

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Round 2!
Apparently bmah changed it to a 55. I had already dropped it to a 56 and Rob had agreed with that in the discussion thread so I have no idea why it was changed again. I don't agree with 55 for it.

He didn't specifically agree with that. I talked to him and Eze about this song yesterday and 55 is the agreed upon difficulty.

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Round 2!
Thought the community generally had a say once files were released and that was the purpose of the subforum. Just hope the decision wasn't based on D4's performance on the file considering for a D4 player it should be fairly easy.

Yes it makes a difference from VC to being a C.

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Round 2!
Like bmah said, I didn’t specifically agree with 56, I said I would’ve put it around there as well. I’d noticed it was dropped to 56 from 59 yesterday, so I messaged the other diff consultants and game managers since we hadn’t had a chance to discuss it together yet. 55 is what was agreed upon. Round 2 statistics weren’t really a major pushing factor, but WoW’s AAA count has already usurped Touch Me’s, and there's still another day and a half of round play left. But again, as it’s already been mentioned by several members, both files test different skill sets.
Also 55 is sort of a communal sub-tier for highest Cs and lowest VCs. There’s quite a few ex-VCs in here already, including dot death, Carrousel Paradise, State of Emergency, and Mute City Remix. |

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Round 2!
It's also the fact that the file was released at a 59 and got changed to a 55 without any actual discussion, considering that there were some people who were sound (or only slightly disagreeing with a VC rating). The issue that I have with this change is that Rob was alright with a 56, Eze said that 55/56 was alright (although, something else shows WAY different) and there are other community members saying that this is harder than Touch Me, which is also rated a 55. It has a much more constant difficulty with just as heavy layering at TM has, in addition to more constantly structured patterns. You can't use scoring statistics to judge this rating -- round 2 in the past two officials have all been like this with tight cutoffs.
It also goes against the fact that for -every- song in this tournament, we had a minimum three difficulty ratings that we were able to use for placements, just so as long as the supplemental ratings provided by Eze were accurate/consistent in previous discussions. With people obviously showing concern about it not being a VC AAA, Rob saying that 56 was fine after Kayla mentioning that's where she intended it, and with another higher level player agreeing with the rating after mentioning the tougher layering, higher speed, and trickier patterns, a four point drop shouldn't have been done without at least making a thread about it and asking for community input. |

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Round 2!
Maybe i'm just an ffr noob but i am not seeing the big deal in that. Not all files have perfectly accurate ratings and the difficulty can be subjective. Touch me and walk on water may very well be different strokes for different folks, and in the end it's not a problem if the difficulty was quickly patched, it can be readjusted later with ease

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Round 2!
Again, I never agreed with specifically 56, I posted after Kayla saying I would have put it around there as well. In all honesty, considering the bump in question was probably going to be three points or more, I would've liked to have made a thread at some point in the future. That's what's normally done with files that are released with ratings the community disagrees with, I even created the thread for White Walls Part 1 despite having rated it myself prior. Given that the rating was already changed to 56 without any discussion in the difficulty subforum, which, mind you, none of the diff consultants or game managers were informed of, we decided to discuss it ourselves and came up with 55. This was a file for the tourney I didn't get a chance to rate to begin with. It was suggested to revert the rating back to its original 59 for the time being, but since that would've been counter-productive to the switch already made (most members can agree 59 was too high of a rating), we just discussed it there and then.

Re: 8th Official FFR Tournament - Round 2!
I made the switch based on the song discussion thread and the overall consensus that it was a few points lower than 59 but still kept it a VC (based on the scale you gave me at the beginning before we started rating files for the tournament).

Song difficulties shouldn't be changed until after the tournament or round ends...just to avoid this stupid drama.
