Ran my first 5K this morning
So I ran my first ever 5K this morning. It was organized by the Houston Dynamo and was called Go For Goal 5K. I ran it 29:07 so I guess I'm a 9-minute person. I treated it as a warm-up because I'm running in the ABB 5K (part of the Houston Marathon) come January.
What's your best 5K time? |

Congrats on the 5k!! I'm just trying to run 2 miles in succession - it's so hard.
Grats Feels great, doesn't it?? EDIT: So far 12:40 for my mile..., it's improvement from 13 minute something. x) |

24 or 25 minutes I believe. Wonderful job starting to run! It's a great feeling to finish races

Re: Ran my first 5K this morning
Congratulations!! What exactly did your "couch-to-5k" training entail?
Never ran a flat 5km road race, but before graduating I did set my highschool's Cross Country record of 17:23 on a 5k course down in Oregon. This spring, I will will also be running the 5000m (and maybe the 10000m if I lose my sanity) for my university's track team 5 is a nice number! |

Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, BC I'll be running both cross and track for the next 4-5 years!

Re: Ran my first 5K this morning
Most recent. Record is 23:56 over Golden Gate Bridge, 21:44 on a track but that's cheating.
Still, 6:06 mile is pretty good. |

Re: Ran my first 5K this morning
Ps that app is called Strava if you want a Facebook for runs that logs a ton of stats. 5k = 3.1 miles.
They also have one for bicycling as well |

Re: Ran my first 5K this morning
16:41 5k
36:03 10k 3:01:04 marathon running the shanghai marathon soon~ to echo prawnskunk, running is a very unique activity in that you always improve so long as you just do it. if you just get up today and decide to run 3 times a week you'll get faster, can run longer, etc. for those starting with times of 29, 25, so on for the 5k, those are super respectable! just think about where those can go with some practice! @snowcrafta, that first mile is awesome! but exerting so much early on may have slowed down your overall pacing

Re: Ran my first 5K this morning
The best 5k I ever ran was 19:38 back in highschool.
I always preferred sprinting to long distance running. |

Re: Ran my first 5K this morning
First year doing cross country. Best 5k was 20:31. I expect to get mid-18's next year considering I'll be doing distance running for both regular and winter track.
Congrats on your first 5k, DotKritic!

Re: Ran my first 5K this morning
I like sprinting early on and falling into my pace as I slow down, helps build endurance off the bat I've felt
