I'm going to the presidential inauguration....

I scored tickets to go Obama's inauguration on January 20th!!! I'm so excited, but I can't find a hotel or motel within a 20 mile radius. The only hotels offering any rooms are charging 500+ a night. Help! Does anyone have any ideas? A place where my girlfriend and I can crash for cheap??

Why don't get a hotel room in a nearby city and take the 3 or 4 hour drive? Like baltimore or something.

You can watch the inauguration from your living room.

I got invited to some Congressional Leadership Academy thing during inauguration week. If I can muster up the $2400, I'll probably go.

People as far away as I live (about 20 miles) are renting out their houses for the few days that people are coming down to see the inauguration. I doubt you will be able to find a hotel for those days.

Also, you'll be spending about 90% of that day in traffic. Just a heads-up. Every time Obama spoke in our area, it took five hours or more to get to the event. And this is even bigger.

I actually went on craigslist to find a house we could stay in. Do you think this is sketchy? I'm afraid we are going to be murdered in our sleep. In all seriousness, though, I'm not even sure what a fair price would be. Someone offered me a room for 200 a night each about 20 minutes from DC.
