Thanks, I'll try that. Believe it or not, mosh1 is much easier for me than the verse after it.

Re: Guitar Hero. Awesome.
Well whichever you can combo first. IMO the mosh is far harder to master, since I still screw up the mosh a lot but never the verse... but whatever works for you. You can initiate in the mosh too for the exact same effect, since you can just use the extra sp from the verse in the chorus.

I think that's what I have to do, but I suck at this song sooo much. I get grounded Friday, for a long time. Hope I can 5* it before then.

Dude.
Optimal path is only optimal if you can FC it. Mosh 2 FTW. |

Re: Guitar Hero. Awesome.
Alright guys, question for you.
I recently got a Xbox360, and a few games with it. I have enough money to get either GH3, or RB. I've already played GH3 on the PS2 at my friends, so I know most of the song list, sans DLC. I'm kind of on the fence as to which to purchase, so I was wondering, what are some noteworthy DLC songs from each game?

You don't lose very many points by initiating with 4 in the verse rather than 3 in the Mosh, assuming an FC on both. Optimal path with last initiation in the flood gains less than 1000 points on initiating in the chorus and ignoring the last SP, which is exponentially easier. The only real gain you make by using SP in the Mosh is it allows you to utilize the last sp in the flood, which you're not going to do anyway, and otherwise you're only gaining a few extra single notes compared to the verse, or a few thousand points. The verse is much easier than the Mosh and if you can fc it, you can break 300k with the 4 initiation there. If you want to do the mosh instead, do it, but gl D: I wish I could hit it consistently. I can initiate in the Mosh, and miss a bunch ---> Leads to about ~ 280k. Quad initiate in verse with fc --> ~320k. I'm not positive of the exact stats, since it depends on where you miss, but you lose > 5000 points for each miss under sp in RB. I would work on the Mosh but slow is SO UNHELPFUL OMG Why is it soooo much slower than full speed? IN GH4, you should be able to choose a % of full speed you want to play at. Slow is wayyyyy too easy...I need to practice it at like 90-95% of FS.

Thanks*1320974324milbiltrilzil I'll really have to practice the Verse. It's so awkward for me, but I'm sure I can get it if I practice it. If I can fc the Verse with a 4sp initiation, and I get like 5 misses on mosh2, I can get the extra 60k? EDIT: I took your advice. I used the 4sp initiation in the verse, and I missed twice on the verse outside of the initiation, but I didn't miss during sp. My score went from 171k to 222k. Wow. Holy ****. Thank you so much. If I'm right, I should be 5k away from a 5*. I love you. lol

What the HELL is everyone talking about? All this crap about optimal paths and stuff? All I know is that my brother, who's left-handed, is not permitted to play at his friend's house again because he beat a lot of high scores.
I TOLD him he'd be good at it. XD |

Re: Guitar Hero. Awesome.
It was just me convincing him that 4 initiation in the verse is *by far* the easiest way to 5* raining blood.
And you're welcome Guardians. 4 verse is *the* optimal path unless you can FC the Mosh. You *lose* a LOT (as in 10s of thousands) of points by initiating in the Mosh instead of the Verse if you can FC/near fc the verse. The *only* time anyone should initiate in the Mosh is if they can FC it - ONE miss in the mosh is worse than FCing the verse under SP. You should be able to get the 5* easily now if you fc everything after the verse and initiate with 2 in the chorus. You'll probably find it won't take long to jump up to 250k, where you'll plateau for a bit until you improve on the mosh and flood.

If you want a game with lots of guitar riffs, and somewhat hard difficulty, and if you're patient and like to practice (especially with the final tier songs), then go for GH3. I wouldn't recommend it for DLC in my opinion. Only other downsilde is that ig you played the previous installments, then you would notice that sometimes the charts don't make sense, and some are slightly off-sync. Battle mode is a pain as well, since whoever attacks first cripples the other player completely. Rock Band is more realistic, and fun with 3 others, even online. Only problem is that Guitar is incredibly easy, and the peripherals are likely to break, and the price tag as well. The upside is, replacement is free, and usually only takes a week for delivery, and you never get scammed (since you receive the new peripherals FIRST, then return). DLC is big in this game, with weekly updates, and no one seems to complain, except for the voice of the singer in the Iron Maiden COVERS. Drums are really fun though, and customizable characters as well. Both has upsides and downsides, so it's really your decision.

Re: Guitar Hero. Awesome.
Rock Band is a much more enjoyable game. But if you're playing for serious score-getting then you ought to get GH3. I prefer Rock Band and would recommend that over GH3 any day (I'm selling GH3 to get GH2 for the 360 ), but serious guitar players tend to prefer GH3.

If you're just starting out, you should get Rock Band. If all you want to play is guitar, and you're already used to GH3, you should get GH3. Rock Band is really frustrating for me, since I'm so used to GH3. They're both great games though. If you still can't decide, just go by favorite soundtrack. Hey Reach. I 5*'d Raining Blood. Took about 3 hours of practice in the Verse and other parts of the song, and then 10-15 song attempts. I got within 1k a few times, and I finally got it. I'm just 200 points over the requirement. So I've 5*'d all the Career songs and earned my title of "Guitar Hero" with a spiffy 75 gamerpoints. Thanks, a ton =)

Re: Guitar Hero. Awesome.
If you see yourself only playing guitar, get GH3.
If you see yourself playing drums, singing, or playing with friends, get Rock Band. Also, I too find Rock Band way more fun than GH3.

RB with others > GH3 > RB by yourself
IMO anyway. RB by myself really isn't very fun in general, I've found...it truly is a multiplayer game at heart to me. Switched to HS5. Got 720k on TTFAF, hit the end of the solo with the descending OBYOBYOBROBROBROBGOBGOBG in practice mode (full speed). 16th across all systems when you combine my PS2 and 360 scores.
