Re: Brawl Friend Codes!
I will, but I'm brawling with korny and his friends atm...I will later. Since it is spring break for me I will have plenty of time to battle all of you.

Re: Brawl Friend Codes!
Yeah, I lost connection too. But playing with you guys (korny, Flame Falco, and Rich) was so much fun it was only rivaled by Temote and his buds..but I won almost every match, so it's better playing with you guys when I lose more. :P
@korny: You seriously need to allow items in the tournament. It adds tactical advantages and rounds out a good duel. Without it, there's a void.....that can be only filled by items (Such as final smashes, assist trophies, etc). ~Bynary Fission

Re: Brawl Friend Codes!
Tactical advantages? Seriously? i can remember on several occasions when we've played a game where you got 4 stocked or i did because the overwhelmingness of the items caused either one of us to be completely helpless to the constant onslaught of cheapness. Items are DEFINITELY not going to be in my tournament. Like i said in my first post, if you don't like it, don't join. But those are the rules of my tournament because those are tournament rules and they're much more fair.

P.S I know why we lost connection. It was me. A big storm is headed here and everything wireless lost connection (All the computers in the house except mine lost connection [thank god for wired internet ]). P.P.S I agree with FlameFalco - we should all get together and play team battles with each other. It'd be hella tight. ~Bynary Fission

bynary items are very useful because they sometimes turn matches around and when they appear every one has an equal chance at getting them and Korny i agree with no items because true brawlers dont need items because instead brawlers rely on true skill to win matches |

Re: Brawl Friend Codes!
Wow you guys are pretty good since I was dead last in most of the games. Even though it was my first day, online seemed rather enjoyable than I expected. However a third of the time I had no idea who was who with all the details in the background. Heh, and I hate how my smashes don't register half of the time (nunchuck controls)
Well as for the tournament, I believe that items should not be set in my opinion. True, items do add more flare to the game, but overall it seems to give more advantages than what is needed. For a tournament I enjoy the ones with no distractions and is strait forward. Whichever you go with, the tournament should still be fun.

Re: Brawl Friend Codes!
This number wasn't yours? Because when I put it in, it entirely worked.
Anyway, I think I'm going to go ahead and leave my Wii on overnight, since it seems that it doesn't register people if you aren't both online at the same time. After I get home from work tomorrow night, I'm going to go ahead and clear the un-registered ones out of my list (with a few exceptions) because I'm nearly out of room, and without room, I can't verify the numbers for our overall list. >_> And I seriously want to host our team battle tournament, but I'd rather actually play team battles first. =P I was thinking of doing something like a poll or a thread where the people participating can say what rules they want, as opposed to just picking them on my own, then splitting up the contestants between two different tourneys, or something like that. I haven't thought the whole thing through, though. |

Re: Brawl Friend Codes!
"everyone has an equal chance" was his exact words. You're saying that level playing ground is broken in some way?
If there is ANYTHING that can turn a tie into a clear win/loss, it is far superior to a bull**** sudden death. If I lost to someone from them beating me in a sudden death, I wouldn't even consider it a loss. And things like Mr Saturn can only swing matches IF THE PERSON IS ESPECIALLY SKILLFUL (and shouldn't battles be determined by absolute skill?). Even Smash Balls are rather fair in that anyone has a shot at getting it (ie it's not random, literally anyone on the map has a shot at it depending on who can get the necessary hit on it), and in fact, simply getting it requires skill (the skill of outdoing your opponent or stealing the final strike on it). ANNNNNNNNNND if you're truly skillful, there are tons of things which can be done to minimize your opponents effectiveness with their final smash (simply knowing your opponent's moveset well is an effective first step). This isn't like the Hammer where it could appear randomly in front of your opponent who would immediately pick it up and become not only a super power house but also nearly impenetrable. This is an item which gives equal chance to all players on the map.

Sudden death? Why are we even bringing that up? We're playing stock matches. The only way sudden death is possible is through a draw which is extremely rare and has only happened to me once or twice out of the thousands of games i've played in melee. Temote. That number works because it's my friends. I was at his house for a few days straight so i just went ahead and gave peole that number to play me on. Last edited by korny; 03-17-2008 at 12:02 PM.. |

Re: Brawl Friend Codes!
Ok then how about a stock match where two people are down to 1 stock and both have 200% on them. No matter the outcome of that final stock, I would consider that a tie, since at that point it's just a matter of --gasp-- LUCK on who can land the finishing blow first.

Re: Brawl Friend Codes!
Well that's completely different from a sudden death and completely fair all in itself. That just means that you and your opponent had an extremely close game and it all came down to who was the better player in the end. Luck? No sir. Nothing is lucky about finishing off an opponent who has evenly fought you through a stock battle.

Re: Brawl Friend Codes!
That may be true for most people. But when it comes down to people who really know how to play mind games and use tactics to FORCE your opponent into error like myself, then that is when the true winner comes out. Why don't you play me online and see what i'm talking about :P
