Re: Your favorite songs in video games
I'm perplexed as to why this hasn't been made into a remix yet. |

Arch:
This is my favorite from that game Sounds a lot like something Enigma would make. I actually got permission from the author of all the music in that game to make stepcharts for FFR using his music but never got around to it (nor did anyone else haha). |

Re: Your favorite songs in video games
Lots of good stuff here, but to mention a few:
This is IMO the best boss battle music in the series and probably in any RPG I've played to date. It's so fitting, especially when fighting some of the more epic and colossal bosses in the game. It's epic enough to be the last boss theme, though it needed to be darker given the fight itself, which brings me to the next song. (Audio quality in HD is better) This is hands down one of the greatest pieces in the final fantasy series. It's so beautiful yet dark at the same time and a monumental finish to the game, incorporating all of the main theme songs of the game into one masterpiece. It's also particularly interesting because the first 3:12 is an intro which incorporates a cinematic sequence that beautifully preludes the main battle. Though, one song in particular could top it I think. Sadly the audio quality was never good enough on the original SNES for this song to live up to Battle for Freedom, but this remake does it a lot of justice: The way this song is broken into distinct movements, moving into a prelude and fugue and then ending in a monumental finish again incorporating many of the games main theme songs has never really been topped in the video game world.

Re: Your favorite songs in video games
definitely gonna have to spend some time checking out what's been posted here. y'all have good taste. gerudo valley from wind waker and stickerbush symphony from dkc2 are my favorites out of what I've skimmed so far. always loved both rusty ruins acts from sonic 3d blast, although I first played the genesis version of the game and really liked its music for the same zone as well.
it's really tough to pit my favorite 8-bit tunes against the huge orchestral arrangements I'm fond of, so I think I'll pick a song from each generation of consoles or something like that. here's one for starters, anyway. so damn groovy. |

epic
no seriously though, FFX-2 doesn't have my favorite music, i just like to point the soundtrack out cause it's glory is such a contrast from the horrible gameplay. I also love almost everything chrono cross. |

Re: Your favorite songs in video games
5.) The World Ends With You - Emptiness and...: The version in game is cut to about a minute long, but still awesome.
4.) Final Fantasy VI - Fierce Battle: First off, this spawned one of my favourite remixes ever (go search The Atomizer by Mustin). 3.) Luminous Arc 2 - Retribution: It's game that most people don't know about, but still awesome. The music is a good reason why. 2.) MegaMan Battle Network 3 - N1 Grand Prix Battle: One of the best battle themes ever. Always got me pumped up when I heard it in-game. 1.) Golden Sun - Elemental Stars: Just... beautiful. |

Re: Your favorite songs in video games
Not going to post the songs, but I love practically anything from Sonic.
One that always gets me going is the original Chemical Plant song, and that's probably why I like Beware the Purple Water on FFR so much. Also Rooftop Run from Sonic Unleashed/Sonic Generations. The song is just so fitting and catchy and I can't help but enjoy it. I was never much of a classic video game player. I've never touched games like Zelda or FF so I can't even offer up decent songs from those. Sonic, however... one of my absolute favourites. Edit: Screw it, I'm posting the Rooftop Run one. It needs to be enjoyed by more. For anyone who hasn't played the stage, imagine yourself racing through a large city and sliding down rails from the tops of buildings and zooming through vast areas and just wreaking Sonic havoc. Re: Your favorite songs in video games
What are you saying? Speak for yourself, I never saw this thread and I'm happy it got bumped.
I listen to way too much VGM, so of course I am going to just dump a bunch of songs here for you guys, and I guess I'll even tell you why I like the tune for whatever reason.. vv Recommended vv I'll come back in this thread again soon, don't wanna dump too much at one time lol. meh doesn't even compare to the original Sonic games. Not bad but just doesn't seem right to me. Ever since Sonic went 3D things went to shit. Yes I am a classic gamer and I still own all the old Sonic games. |
