Studio Ghibli
Can we just talk about how Hayao Miyazaki is retiring and "The Wind Rises" (in select theaters as of February 21) is his last movie. :'( Studio Ghibli movies were my childhood and also my present...
The art is beautiful and the stories are adorable. I will forever marvel over what is Studio Ghibli. |

Re: Studio Ghibli
I got the chance to see it, and though beautifully animated; it's definitely an old mans farewell movie. It was amazing and yet I wanted so much more. If you get the chance to see it don't expect anything like spirited away or princes mononoke!

Re: Studio Ghibli
So I was just reading about Ghibli and apparently they did a movie called The Tale of Princess Kaguya. DO WANT, AMERICA
The Wind Rises was actually nominated for an Academy Award for best animated film this year. Frozen won, but it was cool to see a Ghibli film in the mix. |

Re: Studio Ghibli
Ponyo is criminally underrated and it is probably in my top five movies. That being said, all of the Ghibli movies I have seen have been fantastic, with Ponyo, Spirited Away, Mononoke, and Castle in the Sky at the top. Also, if you're having a good day DO NOT WATCH GRAVE OF THE FIREFLIES. You need to be emotionally prepared to see that movie.
