Thumbs down Evan Almighty

I'm sorry, but Evan Almighty really lacked "mind-controlling powers". I went to see this movie with my friends after work, and it wasn't worth $8.50. To me- It was pretty much like Bruce Almighty, except with Steve Carell. I wanted to watch the back of my eyelids in the movie theater, it was so boring. The plot didn't have enough, Evan meets God, God tells Evan to build an ark for the animals because a flood is coming, Evan builds the ark and the flood comes. It wasn't even funny! They showed all of the best parts on television, (not that they don't do that for any other movie.) What I'm trying to get to is... What's your opinion? Am I the only one that thinks this way about Evan Almighty? Please reply.

I wasn't planning to see this at all (here in the UK we've got another week's wait), as it just seemed a bit cheesy. Don't get me wrong, Evan was the best actor in Bruce Almighty, IMO. But I don't think he could carry a film on his own.

The thing is, you could tell from the previews that they pretty much had any funny part the movie could possibly contain. And then the previews pretty much tell you the plot of the entire movie. After the previews, it's like "Ok, that was basically the whole movie, thanks for saving me eight bucks"

It was not the kind of comedy movie that I'd love to see, but it was good for bringing along my little brother. He enjoyed it well.

Bruce Almighty was much funnier. This movie had its funnies, but it's not as funny as I thought it would and should have been.

Watching Transformers afterwards was well worth going though. =3

The only thing I liked about this movie was Wanda Sykes. Evan Almighty is nothing compared to Bruce Almighty. Even if Jim Carrey played Evan, it still wouldn't have been good. Just a bad sequel, that's all.

I actually movie hopped into this movie after 1408. XD

I like Steve Carrell as an actor, but the material that he was given for this movie just really sucked. The script was bad; it seemed like they toned it down and made it super cheesy to satisfy the PG rating and ensure that it was a family-friendly film.

Steve Carrell has done much better work. Check out The Office on NBC; he pwns on that show.

I know he pwns that show, but I still like the character, "Dwight", much better. He's amazing.

Not to nitpick, but if I remember correctly, Bruce didn't get mind-controlling powers, so neither would Evan =P

On a personal note, I hate your font.

Well this ^ is just my opinion, ("mind-controlling powers".) Excuse me for having one. And on a personal note to you, I <3 my font, because it's not like yours.

The original was alot better than this one. I find the humour was a little more directed at a younger audience, although the plot seemed to be interesting enough to compensate.
Despite a somewhat interesting plot, I don't think they should have bothered to make a sequel. The original didn't really leave any space for another one.

I know how you feel. I was waiting for the whole city/town to be wiped out. Instead it ended up ending in front of the government office.

Yeah, watch your spoilers. Although most of us here recommend not watching the film, some people might plan to and you've pretty much screwed the ending...

You'd be better off if you'd turn the channel when the commercial comes on for the particular movie you'd want to see. Or, if that doesn't work, you could always turn it off. Even if you did do that, you'd still be wasting money by taking the chance of just looking at the movie poster.
