This is a really cool idea, so +1. Personally I'd prefer to have it right aligned with each judgment on a separate line and enough room for several digits (like in SM), and to the right or left of the arrows, because upscroll makes it really hard to look down to the score area in the middle of a song unless there's a break or a really slow section. I just hope that when this gets coded it is (somehow) done in a way that doesn't cause too much extra lag for people who aren't using it.
Incidentally I've become kind of good at computing how many goods I have with a quick glance at the score and my combo (assuming no more than one or two averages/boos and no misses). But having this would be way better.

I personally don't care where it is, as long as it's not in the way of the arrows. It just seemed natural for me to put the counter where the pre-adjusted score is now, since the counter is essentially doing away with it.

I don't really have a preference either; I think that even in the raw scoring area, the colors and mostly constant numbers would allow for ease of use with peripheral vision. Wherever it's put, I'll be satisfied that it's there. (Though I guess replacing raw scoring would be more aesthetically pleasing than simply dumping it on the left or right side.)
