I have several problems with the AAA equivalency formula which I've made clear in multiple threads but as far as raw scoring penalties are concerned, the miss:good penalty ratio is okay with me. A penalty for failure to hit a note at all being worth slightly more than the combined penalty of two second most accurate judgments seems completely fair.

In a game that's largely focused on approaching perfect scores, FFR truly isn't advocating mashing at all. There are no mash FCs on any of the hardest charts that outrank objectively superior PA scores with a few misses. You will always benefit more in terms of raw scoring trying to actually play the chart while picking up some misses unless the chart is completely unreadable to you.
