Re: Rollover ads
Are you using Adblock? I didn't see them until I uninstalled it and then they started popping up.

Re: Rollover ads
As much as I dislike test ads, these are not bad compared to some sites that have them on nearly every word.
I know tass is against them in the forums, but I think it's a wise move to keep them here. Much more profitable here than on a static page. I also think they should stay on profiles. There's no point in having them if they are just going to be buried away.

Re: Rollover ads
Take them off the forums but in return increase their frequency on the profiles by 100%. Let the myspace crowd enjoy their plague of adverts and revel in their 258 friends each advertising 15 individual companies.

Re: Rollover ads
This. Plus, the short-term revenue is great, but hopefully it will not last long.

Re: Rollover ads
These make people lag more? Somehow I'm not buying that.
I actually prefer these to Flash ads because they don't generate lag whereas flash ads can and do. I would even go so far as to say that if you are experiencing lag because of these new advertisements that you weren't experiencing with flash ads, that it isn't because of the advertisements at all but, rather, you should get your computer checked for spyware. As far as I am aware, these are not flash ads. They are Javascript popup, correct? It really should produce far less lag I would think, being that Flash has a much greater overhead than Javascript. And if the Flash ads bother you too much, buy a subscription, win a subscription, or gather enough credits and transfer them to someone willing to buy you one. I really don't think subscribers should even be getting these context ads, but supposedly it is in somewhat of a testing phase right now and not permanent and they will be removed for subscribers shortly is my understanding? |

Re: Rollover ads
I agree with UserName, but my main problem is them being in the forums.
It's pretty annoying to type something or read something and then get attacked by "THIS WORD LINKS TO SOMETHING COMPLETLY UNRELATED BECAUSE WE'RE SEARCHING UP THE WORD OUT OF CONTEXT!!!!!" So, yeah. |

Re: Rollover ads
I understand that. I also see that you are a subscriber so theoretically should not be getting ads. So it probably shouldn't be a problem shortly for you (and me) I'm guessing?
I mean they do need to make money. Being a subscriber though is supposed to support the site since most subscribers paid money for it. So in exchange subscribers aren't supposed to get ads. I do think just wait it out a bit since you're a subscriber. |
