Re: Are there any other vegetarians/vegans here?
plants are living things too, vegetarians dont have any reason to stop eating meat. You not eating it isn't going to save cows from being killed. being a vegetarian=total failure.

Re: Are there any other vegetarians/vegans here?
I agree with Jenova and Jellygod. What's wrong with killing animals if we kill plants, too? If I were a true vegetarian, I wouldn't eat ANYTHING (sort of oxymoron, though). Stop everything from dying and let everything live; that way, there is no suffering. And that contradicts one of the most universal laws in existence, so it basically defeats the purpose. Animals deaths are going to be required in order for other animals to survive. Wild animals are being slaughtered all the time. It all comes down to which animals and plants you want to die. Do you want everyone to live, or should the "cute" animals and the ones we consider pets survive? Weird to think about. Certainly doing that with humans wouldn't be fair, but we don't seem to apply the same rules to animals. "Kill the ugly person, he doesn't deserve to live as much as the cute person."
I see being vegetarian as a respectable, sophisticated position, but I also categorize it in the same light as irrational fears like my friend's fear of escalators and John Madden's fear of airplanes. Sorry, I'm kind of ranting off topic >__< |

Ledwix,
everything you said is sensible and i agree for the most part, but a lot of it was implied or previously mentioned. Why believe in a religion? It's something you see as right, and keeps you at ease. Same with being a vegetarian for my case.

Re: Are there any other vegetarians/vegans here?
plants are living things too. just because they don't move dont' mean they aren't living. isn't putting fruits and vegetables in blender as bad as putting a cow in a slaughter house? cows cause methane that destroys are ozone layer. i solve this problem by eating them. plants uses photosynthesis to give us air and your eating it all. eat everything in site11! thank you =D
wow. i have edit this comment at least three times already. holy crap everybody already said all the things i said D=

Re: Are there any other vegetarians/vegans here?
AznGreen,
a lot of what you said is senseless, sorry. As previously stated, there wouldnt be so much methane if so many cows weren't born for the sole intention of being eaten. Something that might be spineless for me though, is that fruits and vegetables lack faces, and communication. I don't see them nearly in the same category with animals, just as a substance that can grow and sustain life, not something with thoughts and emotions. That's why eating fruits and vegetables doesn't bother me. typing is eh

Re: Are there any other vegetarians/vegans here?
Think about it. If nothing ate meat we would be screwed. Sharks, bears, unicorns, and all other sorts of things that eat humans would make it to where there are too many humans. Then without humans eating cows, cows would reproduce faster than us. Then the cows would take over as the dominant species and they will milk our females instead!
Think about that next time you don't eat meat!!! |
