One of the reasons you have to look around is for emergency services. They have the right to pass red lights in an emergency, so you should look out for them. If your the reason somebody or more people die because you couldn't be assed to look then you'll get your just deserts. Yea they have sirens so you can hear them but you sound like the sort of person that would have Aqua blazing so loud in the car you wont hear them. Another reason is because THERE ARE PEOPLE LIKE YOU that pay no attention. One day you get quite close and personal with a person you have something in common with, in a car crash.

Wear you seatbelts kids.

Ohh sorry I forget about the UK-US difference. Right, MOT stands for Ministry Of Transport. Every couple of months you have to get your car checked to see if everything's ok and the car is fit for the road. I forgot about insurance as well. Insurance companies loooorrrve new drivers. Tyres are not really expensive. Its when you add it all up when you realise how expensive driving is. So lets think this through. MOT, insurance and tax (you HAVE to have these three in the UK, otherwise your driving illegally and can get fined). Then there's gas and the little giblets in-between like tyres and stuff like that. It all adds up, not to a small sum either.

Haha, tyers.

One of the main reason that I've always pushed for having the Cali convene near my area is because my parents haven't purchased insurance for me. And since it's also illegal to drive in CA without insurance, they don't allow me to drive alone, and thus it becomes quite difficult to explain that I'm meeting with people over the internet, and that I have to get dropped off 100 miles away.

I believe I had one error, but I was talking to the lady afterward, and she said that I would have had bonus points in the way I handled when someone cut me off.

My driving instructor at driver's ed was crazy about getting the big picture

he was like
"You should always know all about your environment, not only in front, but to the back and both sides and above"

"To me, it has always been common sense not to be under an airplane. If an airplane is above me, I always adjust my speed to stay out of potential danger"

He then proceeded to advise us against airplanes, icicles, stalagtites, etc.

and then he told us a story about warren buffet's 30 billion dollar donation to the bill gates foundation.
And somehow related that to driving.

Driving is retarded.

I remember thinking it was all this awesome power, and awesomeness... it's not, it's boring.

Thanks Everyone! Yeah anyways the first time I was in the middle of the DMV parking lot and this old man ran a stop sign and I had to stop suddenly. The instructor then put his hand on the horn and said i HAD to do it to prevent an accident. He failed me on the spot and made me pissed. (critical error)

Haha, I totally do that. If I see an Austin Driving School car I tailgate them, swerve as if I were angry, pass them at unreasonable speeds while laying on my horn, and then cut them off.

This is good for them for two reasons: it shows the new drivers how not to act, and it shows them that they always need to watch out for the assholes on the road and to not freak out if anything out of the ordinary happens (driving crises, anyone?).

I am, of course, a graduate of Austin Driving School, too. =)

My driving teacher always used to go, "Oh my I wouldn't mind some of that ass...". Then when I would look he'd say "Eyes on the road please". He was really funny like that.

Lexington Driving School

he actually did remember under the car but that one actually made sense (potholes and stuff)

My class had a ton of fun in driver's ed not learning. One guy tried the milk challenge during class. The two people next to me were jabbering constantly in german about getting drunk/baked. At lunch one day, I bought a jar of nutella and a loaf of bread from the nearby store and made/ate sandwiches all class. One guy chugged a 2-liter of soda during one of the videos. We stole the drunk vision goggles and watched the videos with them on.
Things hit an all time low when the class played the penis game.

SIMMA DOWN AND SHUT UP!

k, enough driving nostalgia

I had one error, I drove over the white line (on the right hand side) by mistake, oops. But I was fine.

Seriously, you find out once you start driving, that most people are assholes. And you have to watch out, because they are going to do something stupid. I saw someone accelerate through a stop sign today, what the **** is your problem. Half the time people don't use turn signals, everybody speeds.

Sure sometimes I go 5mph over the limit, but people are nuts going 15-20 over the limit, that's just stupid.

Yeah, at least all of you had the chance to pass those tests. I'm looking foward for that license test in a month or so but the only problem I have is that my family and everone around doesn't want to help me or support me for goodness sake. How sad.

(at least i can do this on my own)
