NaNoWriMo 2008!
Ok. So if you don't know what this is, it's a contest to see if you can write a full novel (50,000+ words) in one month. To be specific, November. It's been going on since the turn of the millenium. It's definetly something anyone should try out (especially people that frequent this board with well-written works).
I myself am I participating. As should you! www.nanowrimo.com So, if you're already doing this, keep this topic alive by posting progress, storylines, questions, etc. Last edited by devonin; 10-30-2008 at 05:09 PM.. |

I'm not doing it, but it sounds like a fun idea. Perhaps we can implement some sort of contest based on this for FFR.

Re: NaNoWriMo 2008!
I would love to participate in this if only I had the time to do so. Also, I just found out about it today and I don't have any specific idea for characters or a plot, and I would fail miserably if I tried. Which I probably will anyways. Good luck to you, though, giga, especially if you really are serious about doing this.

Re: NaNoWriMo 2008!
Yeah, I'm going to try this even though I failed two writing classes. =\
Except that this is creative writing and not some stupid essay I'm forced to do. =/

Re: NaNoWriMo 2008!
Post your plotlines hehe. I can't write about my experience at boot camp, since it's not coming naturally.
It's going to be about a American supercomputer that creates robots based on the needs of society. Unfortunatly, the supercomputer gets some sort of virus from one of the creators. It "learns" the meaning of evil, so to speak. I begins creating robots with special weapons, and starts a war with different countries. China, Japan, and Russia begin making their own robotic weapons, and the war that ensues almost destroys humanity. A group of the worlds most intelligent pacifists come up with an algorithm that negates the effects of the virus, and turns the American robot into a worldwide EMP that sends the world back into a Renaissance-type age. EDIt: And to devonin, my goal for every day is 3,000 words. That way, I should hit around twice the amount needed by the end of the month. 3,000 x 30 = 90,000 Obviously, I won't hit 3,000 a day EVERYDAY, so if I have a brainfart one day at get like 2,000, I'll still meet far beyond the needed word count. EDTI2: Tokzic, can't wait to see what you're writing B) Last edited by giganutsauce; 11-1-2008 at 01:25 PM.. |

How do submissions work? Perhaps if I had a little more information I'd participate. I'll check out that site in the OP.
EDIT: My browser isn't letting me view the page. If someone could give me the information it would be appreciated. Last edited by rzr; 11-1-2008 at 02:30 PM.. |

Re: NaNoWriMo 2008!
I'm doing this - starting late though because I've been gone all day.
@rzr: The nanowrimo page probably won't load (or it'll at least take a few tries) because the servers are bogged down by all of the people updating and such. |

Damn. Which means my phone, my primary source of internet, has no shot in hell of getting through. If you could forward me the vital information I would appreciate it.

Re: NaNoWriMo 2008!
Wow I never knew there was something like this. I have a great idea for a plotline and such, I just don't think I'll be able to have a finished copy in a month, as I rarely have free time. I'll edit the post with the plotline to see what you guys think though.
P.S. Probably won't be college-graduate-level material. I'm only 13, but I have the highest grade in LA and always write stories that the teachers call "extraordinary works for my age." Hell, one of them wanted me to shorten one and send it to the reader's digest.
