Default My First Stepfile!

I'VE NOT GOTTEN PERMISSION TO STEP THIS SONG!!!

I'm just uploading it because I want people to tell me if it's good or not - it's not meant to be a serious FFR submission!

I finally managed to get Stepmania to work - not the one I downloaded but I bought a dance mat and Stepmania came with it. I tried editing some songs and so far this is the one I'm most pleased with:

http://pastebin.com/mGMGw690

The song's called "Chap Hop History" by 'Mr B. The Gentleman Rhymer' - it's a parody megamix of a load of old hip hop songs. Again, I've not asked permission for this song, so please don't take this as an actual submission - I just want to know if it'd hypothetically be considered good enough if I did have/get permission.

E: Sorry, forgot the mp3. Here it is, and the stepfile file too!

By the way just FYI - I'd probably rate the song around 30-40 difficulty (I play at between 30-60 difficulty myself...). Most of it is pretty easy but there's a couple of segments where I got a bit carried away. I'm fairly pleased with it (especially as it's practically my first attempt!) but I think there are a couple mistakes, especially the last 'riff' is a bit off...

(Also does anyone know how to use a dancemat?? It arrived last week but I've hardly touched it... it's so much harder than I thought it'd be. I bought it to get fit whilst playing rhythm games - and, I guess it'll do that job because I was out of breath on the easiest songs... Does anyone have any tips on how to play? I hadn't considered the fact that you don't have 4 legs, and you have to leave at least one leg on the ground most of the time whereas you can leave your fingers floating above the keys...)

Kudos if you made this stepfile in notepad, but somehow I don't think that is the case.

Firstly, you have neglected to include an audio file. So even if we manually saved your paste in the proper .sm format, there will be no music. Upload a folder to mediafire (or your prefered file sharing website) containing your .sm stepchart and .mp3 audio file. If you are using SM5, these files can be found in Windows>Run>%appdata%>StepMania5>Songs

Ah haha, sorry I forgot the mp3... I just signed up to Media Fire and they're uploading now.

Yeah, I didn't do it just by text but I noticed you can just copy/paste it into notepad and then save it as .sm instead of .txt and it works just as well.

...Is anyone going to review it?

Sorry if I'm being at all impolite or anything, but I really want someone to look at it. I'm already making more stepfiles too (albeit still of copyrighted music, so I'm still not seriously considering applying for it to be in the game... but that's partly because I don't know if my stuff's good enough...)

If you want me to upload other stuff I've done then let me know!

Even if you don't want to download/look at it/review it right now, could someone please tell me if they intend to at all?

I strongly suggest you send private messages directly to users who have experience with creating stepfiles rather than making a thread on the forums. Kindly ask them to give them to give a detailed review on your stepfiles. To name a few: Wayward Vagabond, TC_Halogen, Silvuh, bmah, hi19hi19.

Hope this helps.

In the future it's better to put everything in a folder .zipped for quick and easy access rather than posting different links to every part of the file.
