Yeah, the other thing about announcing it early is that it doesn't necessarily give the witness enough time to prove their humanity. And even if the psychic sees that a human has died, no one else human will know unless they get in contact with someone somehow.
It'll be a game-time decision.

Who can say where the cloud's blowed from or who the soul'll be 'morrow? Only Sonmi the east an' the west an' the compass an' the atlas, yay, only the atlas o' clouds. |

This is how I see it...
Only the psychic has the ability to confirm/deny the story of the events on day 1, as clearly... the witness attacks the wolf, wolf comes back and attacks the witness. day 2, psychic says if a wolf or human died. Yes, the does mean the psychic has to announce himself... but, figure the guardian will then protect them in the future, or something like that. Then, there are now TWO confirmed humans... or, in the case of the wolves coming out against the witness and then again coming out against the psychic, the worst that happens are 1 human and 1 psychic are lynched in exchange for 2 wolves over the 1st 4 days... which seems to be much much much better for the humans than the wolves.
