Legacy?
Alot of people can agree that a majority of the Legacy songs shouldn't even be included on the game and/or level ranks.
However; i can see why some people that have mastered some of the old Synth files want the songs to be included simply for bragging rights. I support the idea of those bragging rights, but could there be an alternative way to show off the fact that you've mastered the old, crazy files, without having to include them in the level ranks? Maybe some sort of optional gadget relating to tier points on your profile displaying Legacy medals or something? Can you think of any alternative ways or would it just be better to include them in the level ranks? |

Re: Legacy?
Well, the Legacy songs are included in your Token Level Ranks. I'm sure that veterans can see those stats. :3
As for a physical way to brag that you accomplished, well.. there's always random thoughts, your picture albums on your profile, the Brag Board, your signature and videos you can add. Edit - After reading this again, I may not have been completely clear with my former statement. The Token Level Ranks do not count towards your AAA/FC bars on your profile (so, the overall average rank), but the list is still there for other people to see. I think it would be a great idea to remove the Legacy songs from the standard list and keep them in the Token Level Ranks. That way, they still matter, but aren't necessary. I'm not saying this because I find them difficult, I only have 7 more songs in that genre to AAA. I just think others would find it more fun. n.n

Re: Legacy?
Legacy is still here because it's not fair that new users don't have to play them and have good ranks...
they are ffr's history hence why they are legacy |

Re: Legacy?
This entire argument is pretty much Legacy players vs. non-Legacy players.
I'd say go for removing them from the ranks, as they mostly fall FAR behind modern expectations (even the worst of non-legacy (such as Nova Pulser) completely own bluenote files) and mostly lack any sort of sync.

Re: Legacy?
Legacy files are being removed from future engines, so no need to worry about them any time soon.

Re: Legacy?
The issue the OP brought up is the level ranks mostly.
He's requesting that we implement another way to show we've "aaaed" these charts or done well on them other than having them in the level ranks. Also something I've mentioned more times than I care to count: It's still sitting there that the legacy charts still appear in both the token ranks and regular ranks. PICK ONE GOD DAMN IT. (Preferably the token ranks.) |

Re: Legacy?
either way I saw on some thread at one point from an admin that no songs would be taken out of the public system that are already there

Re: Legacy?
They wouldn't necessarily need to be taken out entirely just like modified so that the level ranks for them wouldn't included in the regular game's level ranks.

Re: Legacy?
Is it just because you have bad ranks on legacy charts that you want them out? The only reason anyone's ranks on them would be bad is because lots of other people were able to do them just fine. And if that's the reason, then any song you have a really bad rank on should be removed from level ranks? That's kind of spitting in the faces of people who managed to do well on the charts.
I agree the legacy charts are pretty bad, but people have spent time doing well on them to improve their ranks and shouldn't have that taken away. Also legacy charts show a kind of skill for doing well on bad charts. And there are a limited number of them -- not like there keep being more charts like that. |

Re: Legacy?
Bumping this because we need a clear-cut answer, yes or no.
I really think a legacy bar should be put in place, because I don't think one who wants good ranks should be forced to play SSSG.

Re: Legacy?
There's a big problem with that, in addition to the excellent points already made against it.
You see, some of us are actually trying for this token http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/...php?level=1106 If you remove all the Legacy stuff from counting towards that, especially for people who have FC'd a good majority of the Legacy stuff, it throws them much further back and is unfair to them. Not only that but it seems about every time there's new songs at least one of them is a 12 or at least an 11, which are notoriously difficult to FC vs. many of the Legacy charts being very reasonably FC-able but perhaps difficult to PA. In short, you'd be changing that token's requirements in an unfair way if you removed the Legacy stuff to its own location. The only way I would possibly be in favor of this is if, in addition to special Legacy ranks, that token's requirements were dropped to like 80%-90% or something. The only benefit to such a change is purely cosmetic, while the drawbacks are very real. Also this keeps getting brought up again and again despite a good amount of the community (particularly those already established) being against it. We have given excellent reasons why it is a bad idea and the only reasons pro that I have seen are purely cosmetic and to try to gain unfair stat boosts over others who have actually worked for it. The decision is that we, most of the long-time members, do not want this. There is your "clear-cut yes or no". Find a single person who has FC'd ALL the Legacy charts who would be in favor of your proposal and I will seriously reconsider my position. Can this please stop being brought up already? It's getting old. |

Re: Legacy?
If it's getting removed from future engines, it should not be in the public ranks. Nuff said.
