there's ur solo theory
Aww thnap, sounds like a plan, then. ~.~ I guess I SHOULD start smaller, then. D= Crazy how my first song is a ~3:30 song, but it's ZUN, so it's an exception. <33 Even tho the way I have it stepped for Standard is nothing BUT the snare and Cymbols with some of the bass. Yumm3h. I'm happy with them, tho. Classic is looking forward to it, so I need to finish it. xDD

I guess I'll wait to step Hellion Sound's Clash on the Bridge, then. xDD I should probably do solo steps to the songs that I was SUPPOSED to send into the Touhou Pad Pack, but never did. xD Crazy 2:10 limit to songs. *flails arms*

...don't take what Patashu or I said about c1 bass or c6 snare seriously.

If you did, I hope your file burns in the fiery abyss of my rectum.

Nope. It's a legitimate technique to use, and when executed properly it's great. Obviously not every single file should make use of it (I'm avoiding it like the plague atm), but sometimes a song just calls for it and sometimes it just works with someone's style.

What I can argue however, is people sucking at it from the beginning. It took me like 3 weeks to get used to bass on 1 (which admittedly, has made my ring trilling much faster). It's come to be one of my favourite gimmicks though. I often find myself tapping a trill on my right hand and tapping 1/4s with my left ring on a table when I'm bored.

hey you don't actually have to put bass on column 1 and snare on column 6, but if you have absolutely no idea how to organize it otherwise it's a good start but obviously don't do it like that if you have lots of bass or lots of snare because hitting lots of stuff on the outer columns is annoying

c1 bass is pure iidx style. to me it actually makes far more sense, though yes, it sure can get annoying with bass-heavy songs.

on one hand it makes sense, on the other hand it really reduces the number of patterns you can make and just causes annoyance when you're doing bass plus melody and the melody runs onto low notes

Well, in all honesty, I wasn't going to follow it to the T, but it does sound like a good start for something. At first I just kinda went flailing out balls random and classic said that I had technical issues, which was strange for someone who first started stepping. xD

I'll probably study up on some IIDX and Pop'n patterns and see what is good, also. I basically do know certain patterns are just pure bullsh*t to use, so I'll avoid them when necessary. =x

I just need to quit being so lazy. xD But at least ddream helps out a LOTLOTLOT. ~.~

just so you know, the gestalt stepping style for IIDX or for pop'n is actually different from the gestalt stepping style that single/solo artists have developed. it's mostly because of the lack of keysounding; we can meld rhythms together, express them with minifreezes or outright bull**** them, also we tend to step buzzes and jacky patterns more

don't not use them, just be aware of it when you study them. pop'n charts actually make pretty nice solo files from what I find (the solo banbatsu is <3)

I could step it--it won't be an accurate convert in comparison of the IIDX file since I really haven't played it and don't care to see what it looks like.

Also, new file!

(stole gfx, was too lazy to make new ones--click banner to download)

EDIT: inb4Xiao gives a bad rating because of excessive brackets near the end of the file >_>
