Re: Getting laptop
Get more HD. If you're a gamer, get the better graphics card and audio...otherwise everything looks good.

Re: Getting laptop
I'm using a stock intel graphics card that doesn't support T+L and I'm screwed on every single 3d game I play now.
Just a heads up. And my laptop also has about 60 gigs of memory. A good portion is taken up by the windows system files. GET A MAC FOR GOD'S SAKE

Re: Getting laptop
60 gigs of memory? You should have no problem with anything memory wise.

Re: Getting laptop
I have 60 gigs... and it isn't enough. 30 gigs of mp3s (had to stop DLing a year ago) + plenty of porn & tv shows / movies... not enough.
PS - go with an HP. Amazing customer support, but good enough laptops that you don't need the support. Well... my backlight died when it was under warranty; free shipping to them with pickup, and it was back within a week. Fixed and free.

Re: Getting laptop
Yeah but Dell has really good customer service too. I've always had good advice and stuff from them. Plus he can get the discounts on Dells, and i've heard Dell Laptops > HP Laptops, so Dell is his best choice.
I've had 2 dell laptops (this is my 2nd) and i haven't had problems. Just make sure you call in the afternoon for customer service, or else you get the indian people who you can't understand as well.

Re: Getting laptop
60 gigs is a ridiculously small amount.
300 is the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM anyone getting a new computer should consider. 400-500 is preferable. edit oh wait this is a laptop nm Last edited by Moogy; 07-5-2006 at 08:06 PM.. |

Re: Getting laptop
I think the most they'll give you on dell laptops is 160 gigs.

Re: Getting laptop
I have an inspiron 9300 (that I cheaped out as I was paying for it) and haven't had any real problems with it. Don't worry too much about HD space. Of course I filled mine pretty quickly, but that's what externals are for.

I have an HP as well. Works perfectly fine, and haven't had any problems in the past. Personally, I think HP's look much better than Dell Laptops. As Jursey said, Dell Laptops are good too. My brother got a Dell, and he hasn't had any problems either.

Re: Getting laptop
I just got a 100GB, 2gHz Duo Core Processor, 2GB RAM, 17inch, 256MB Radeon Card laptop delivered to me today. It ran $1500 after all the rebates were applied.
And, yes, it's freaking huge.

Re: Getting laptop
Well, what is your budget on this.
First off, upgrade that HDD to 100gb, 7200RPM. |

I think the new dell laptops are pretty sweet. I'd convince my dad to get me one, but i'd rather have a horse.

Re: Getting laptop
Well, I suppose it depends on what the laptop will be used for.
